I love my Subaru Outback. I have owned 4 Subarus and this one has been one of the best. It has a reliable engine and when it does need work it's been fairly inexpensive to replace parts. Its impressive how much cargo it can fit for not being an SUV. We take it camping all the time and can pack it to the max. Also great for having a dog; she has the whole back area to walk around and lay down. It keeps the rest of my car clean.
Story
We went backpacking up a forest service road. The road to get to the trail-head was really beat up, bumpy and huge washout holes. The car handled the road like a champ. We were the only small car up there, the rest of the vehicles were trucks. I was proud of my little Outback!
Pros
I like that it has some functionality of an SUV yet it's smaller and more fuel efficient. I have almost 200,000 miles on it and it still runs nicely. It's a great car for an outdoorsy person. We take it up to the mountains, on long road trips across the state. Great for camping to fit all your gear or if you had to you can easily sleep in the back of it. This car has been on many adventures with me and I hope my next car can live up to how reliable and functional this one has been.
Cons
Well this car is now 16 years old so it has some wear and tear. One thing I have always disliked is the road noise. Especially on the highway. The windows are not framed in, basically it's a half door with just a window on top. Therefore it's not the best freeway commuter car. Another negative thing is the power. Going up steep hills is not easy in this car, I usually have to drive in the slow lane when climbing hills. Still a good car though.

I have owned this 18 year old car for only one year. When I bought it I was skeptical. It had some rust spots and wasn't very attractive. Then I drove it and was very impressed. It handles very well, the engine sounds smooth and powerful. It is the Luxury edition for that year so it came with heated seats and defrost mirrors and windows. It has over 200,000 miles on it, but I have had zero mechanical issues during this past year. It is my daily driver and I have taken it on multiple 500 miles trips. It is great on gas as well. I get around 24 mpg average and 30 mpg highway. The four wheel drive also is a great feature because of the rough weather where I live. I accidentally took it off road once when I got lost on a gravel road and the car handled very well. I would recommend the Suba... (more)
Story
I took a wrong turn on a gravel road and ended up off roading on an old washed out road. It was a little scary to navigate the obstacles to find a place to turn around, but my Subaru did a great job and I did not get stuck!
Pros
My favorite things about this car is the handling on the roads, the 4WD, great gas mileage, heated seats, lots of space in the hatchback, and being part of the community of Subaru drivers.
Cons
It is ugly on the inside and outside because it is so old. It seems to run through oil quickly, the audio system is dated,
