2006 Subaru Outback - Super reliable and fun mom-mobile
I have owned my Subaru Outback since I bought it new in 2006. It is a very high quality vehicle. I haven't put a lot of miles on it (<50,000), but it has proven highly reliable over time. I give it the highest possible rating, and if I were to buy another car, it would be this one again. I feel that my children and I are safe when we drive in this car.
Story
Not really -- this car is mostly used for everyday commuting and running errands.
Pros
I love the fact that I can haul a decent amount of cargo, yet it doesn't feel like a truck. I like the leather trimmed interior. I like the sleek look of the black exterior. I generally like how it handles. The fulltime all-wheel-drive often comes in handy, especially when driving in snow. It can do many of the tasks of an SUV without being an SUV.
Cons
Because of the all-wheel-drive, this car doesn't get great mileage, so gas costs do add up. The black exterior does show a good bit of dust, and every scratch shows. Repairs can be expensive. I've already had to replace the clutch.
2015 Subaru Outback - Great price, great car
Great car for the price. I got the Subaru Eyesight package, and it has actively paid for itself in just the enjoyment I get from it. The car has ample room compared to the previous models and a stylish body.
Story
Not having to put tire chains on in snow is amazing. Also, not having to press the brake pedal once during a traffic jam was awesome. I would definitely purchase this car again.
Pros
Eyesight package works perfectly. Traffic is not an issue, and you can relax with the auto cruise control. The interior is stylish and reminds me of a luxury car without the price. The exterior is stylish without being too flashy. Blind spots are not too big of an issue and handling of the car is good in most cases. All-wheel drive makes a big difference too.
Cons
The all-wheel drive makes weird noises on curves in the road. You can hear the powertrain fighting one side from the other. The oil changes can get expensive as a full synthetic blend is recommended. The Eyesight package sometimes mistakes bushes while parking as an obstacle and slams on the brakes.
