I purchased this car used with about 90,000 miles on it. I live in the northeast where the winters can be brutal, and I really wanted a vehicle that could handle the rough winter roads - both ice and snow. This car was highly recommended to me by friends, and I also noticed a large number of Subaru vehicles on the roads during the winter months. I've been very pleased with the durability and handling of the Subaru Legacy. I put snow tires on and it has withheld a lot of crazy roads. In addition, we are dealing with the polar vortex deep freeze, and I have had no trouble starting or running my car - and it still has all its original parts. I'm currently at 140,000 miles and I've needed to do very little upkeep to keep the car on the road. I would recommend this car to anyone who has a l... (more)
Story
When I got married my wife and I ran to this car as our guests waved goodbye. During the reception my brothers went outside (in the cold November night) and wrapped the entire car in plastic wrap. They stuffed glittery snowflakes and decals all over the car, wrote "Just Married" on the back window, and even strung some empty tins cans off the back to make loud clanking sounds as we drove away.... Pros
It's reliable. I never need to worry about being stranded with a random breakdown. When people buy used cars that's always a legitimate concern - will my car fall apart on me? But I've been very pleased with the quality of the machine - and all the parts that go into it. I'm not the kind of person who needs a sleek and dangerous looking car to be happy, and this car is definitely for the more utilitarian-minded driver. Cons
I've 6'2" and the roof is a little too close to my head when I'm sitting up. The driver's seat has a very uncomfortable inward slope near the lumbar spine, and I have lower back problems. I need to stuff a throw pillow down in the base of the seat to keep from agitating my leg/back condition. The windows are not attached to a frame on the door, and I get occasional wind leaking in the car at higher speeds. The whistle is a little annoying, but I can live with it. The AWD on this vehicle is great for bad whether locations. The interior is quite sleek. I have had very few problems with the vehicle. It's very fun and safe to drive.
