2008 Subaru Legacy - Would buy another Subaru
I bought this car used a few years ago. It is the second Subaru I have owned, and I definitely like it. Subaru seems to have corrected the body rust problem that the older models had, which is a great thing for living in an area with actual winters.
Story
I frequent ski resorts in the winter, and I can remember one time it was snowing like crazy. I could barely see where I was going, but I have been going to Elk Mountain for years, so I know the way. It took about double the time to get there, but when I did, I practically had the mountain to myself!
Pros
It's reliable. Outside of routine maintenance, I have had to do nothing, aside from changing break pads. It gets passable gas mileage, and the all-wheel drive make winter driving safer.
Cons
I wish it were sportier, and I would prefer to have a stick shift. While the back has a great deal of room for stuff, I think my next car will be a sedan or a coup, or something sportier.
1997 Subaru Legacy - Trustworthy, reliable, and basic.
I like that it has pretty low miles for being as old as it is (20 years- 160,000 miles), and it runs like a champ. No oil leaks. I like that it is in great shape, everything works, it is super reliable, and there is no rust. Quality is great.
Story
Shortly after buying our Legacy, we took up to the mountains (since it is AWD) and took it on a road trip around the coast of Oregon. It was the best time of my life. We had no problems going up and down the state mountain trails.
Pros
The most positive things are that it is super reliable, and it is in great shape and runs amazing for as old as it is.
Cons
The thing that I like least about it is that since it is a base model. There are no "features.' There are roll up windows and no key fob.
