This vehicle can literally do anything you want it to do. It is a two-door coupe the last year Subaru made a two-door AWD vehicle. The chassis is rally proven and has won many WRC and rally championships. Perhaps the most sought after Subaru model. For the time era, the USDM market received an under powered four-liter boxer engine, however, it has become quite popular to perform an engine swap. And quite possibly the best bang for the buck is the EJ257 motor found in the STi parts are readily available. Since it has AWD, you can take the Impreza in any kind of weather—if you have the appropriate tire for the application (i.e. snow tires if you will be in the snow). The handling is perhaps the greatest function of the vehicle. The light weight of the chassis is another brilliant aspect ... (more)
Story
I repo'd this car from a delinquent friend. I went with my buddies and we took it from him, because he did not make payments on it for over two months. We drove it late at night in the woods almost hitting deer and elk...quite scary at the time.
Pros
The best thing about this Impreza is the chassis it being a light and short wheel base allows you to be nimble in the corners and attack each corner like you're Collin McRae. The styling is quite possibly the best-looking Subaru ever made. All-wheel drive. Moon roof. Leather option. Easy access to oil drain and filter. Frameless windows. My friend's fingers got slammed between the window and the B pillar as the door closed and he was fine, just a little sore. Looks! Beefy boxer sound actually rumbles, sounds like a cross of a V8 and a high-performance Honda. But don't get a Honda confused,... (more)
Cons
The rear seat is a bit cramped with front passengers over six-feet tall, and the rear seats are bolted in so you need a rack for ski/bike trips. Center armrest extension and top storage compartment are less solid than the rest of the car. Road noise is also a problem at speeds over 50 mph. Bring back the unique styling of the 2002 to 2005. All the current models say "me too." Greatly improve your design, engineering, and supplier parts quality. Release a 2013 model in this body style (the two-door looks much nicer than the four-door WRX/STi), but with the STi engine/drive train. Imagine 33... (more)

My 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.i Premium has been the most valuable purchase I have ever made. It's 4 cylinder, 2.5 liter boxer engine has been through hell and back with me and has never left me stranded or stalled. The car has been on and off road in different states and different terrains and has yet to show me a barrier I couldn't cross. It's reliability has surpassed any vehicle I have owned from Swedish to Korean cars. At 90,000 miles I have only replaced 2 belts, regular oil changes, a few bulbs and fuses, and my brake system. Even when I go to a dealership to get it checked out they are surprised of the minimum maintenance it has had.
Story
Going through a blizzard in my 2011 Impreza in Colorado with all season tires was a bit frightful at first, but when we had the dream of snowboarding in Colorado's famous mountains, me and a buddy had to pull the trigger. Watching cars like AWD Honda CRVs and Suburbans sliding on the freeway around us, made me realize how crazy of an AWD system this car had. We went to mountain after mountain,... (more)
Pros
The pros on the vehicle has to start with the maintenance. As stated above, I have spent less than $1,500 since buying it 7 years ago in service and so far it doesn't seem to need much more in the near future. If you are interested in modifying it, there are so many different platforms you can get parts for an upgrade to. The all wheel drive system has gotten me through mud, heavy snowfall, and the heavy rain (that we sometimes get) in California.
Cons
The interior of the car is majority plastic, which after some time rattles. I expected this buying a Subaru because anything more than plastic would wear and break which equals more money. The all wheel drive system is a gas guzzler, and sometimes when heavy driving I feel as if I am in a small SUV. The turning on the car stock isn't so great (i.e. handling) and if I didn't upgrade my suspension to a newer models, I think my back would hurt a little more.

The service department is very responsive to the needs of its customers. The sales department staff are very helpful and look to help you make an informed decision, free of high pressure sales techniques. Courtesy vehicles are available and the break room is an excellent place to use their wireless connection while you wait.

It was not so great. We felt rushed and were only allowed to drive and explore one vehicle.
