Subaru Impreza Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2006 Subaru Impreza - Great car for inclement weather
The car is very enjoyable to drive. It has just the right amount of resistance in the steering wheel - not too stiff and not super loose (which makes me feel like I'm not in control). The interior is basic but classy, with a cup holder in the back and a center back console that folds down to an arm rest and allows long objects to be placed in the trunk (great for skis and snowboards). Overall, the car feels solid and reliable. It drives very well in snow and ice, especially for a sedan, aided by the AWD. It's the right balance of practicality and performance.
Story
We take my Subaru up to the mountains all the time to ski and snowboard. She looks great with the ski racks on top, very sporty. I like to call her Subi.
One of my good friends had the same car except a year newer and the automatic transmission version. We used to say they were twins :)
Pros
- Easier to find manual transmission in Subaru's; this one comes in a 5-speed
- Pretty forgiving clutch, this was a great car to learn on
- Cheeps instead of honks when locking
- Fold-down back center console for long objects in trunk
- All-wheel drive - intelligent power to wheels - great for inclement weather
- Small but still a good amount of trunk space and cabin space
- Dashboard panel shows a little arrow to remind you that the gas cap is on the right side
- Non-powered seat adjusters - I actually prefer this
- Good power and torque for a small sedan. Can pass slow vehicles in short... (more)
Cons
- No mirrors on visors
- No seat heaters
- Some tend to develop head gasket leaks or seeps, which can be a bit expensive to fix
- Battery guard post is a little awkward to unscrew
- No rear windshield wiper - this should really be on every Subaru
- Not as good MPG as a Honda or a Toyota due to the AWD - gets about 29 highway and 22 city
2016 Subaru Impreza - Gas efficiency.
My car is the perfect vehicle for a young professional as well as a family. This Subaru gets incredible gas mileage, sometimes 40 MPG on the freeway, but average is about 34.2 MPG. This car is convenient, it is optimal for pet parents as the rear seats can collapse and become roomy. This prior option also means more room for transporting large items. If you wanted, you could camp in your car! It's so roomy. I seldom have mechanical issues, and any support needed is done at my local dealership. They are wonderful to work with! I truly love my vehicle.
Story
I was able to drive cross country in ten days and only filling up my tank approximately 8 times.
