2011 Subaru Impreza - Just Okay
Overall, the Subaru Impreza is good car when compared to others in its class. The standard all wheel drive Subaru platform is what prompted me to consider the car, and it is the feature that had the most influence on my decision to purchase the vehicle. Unfortunately, to make an all wheel drive car in that price point, Subaru has sacrificed quality in other areas. The interior plastic parts are the cheapest I've seen since the '90s. They scratch and mark very easily (within the first week of ownership). While there was nothing wrong with the seating material, it was definitely a step down from the seats in my previous 2005 Mazda. I own the automatic version of the Subaru hatchback, which I don't expect to be as precise in shifting as a manual transmission. However, it's still pr... (more)

I own the automatic version of the Subaru hatchback, which I don't expect to be as precise in shifting as a manual transmission. However, it's still pretty clunky for an automatic. I find a lot of hesitation when trying to accelerate through the gears quickly. One other positive about the car is the hatchback. Granted, a lot of manufacturers make hatchbacks, but this is my first experience with one. I can't tell you how many times I've moved and hauled things that I never would have been able to fit in a standard 4 door. The all wheel drive and hatchback are the main selling points of this model.
It was my first Spring in my new home. I could hardly contain my excitement about the opportunity to head down to the local nursery and browse all of the offerings to spruce up my flower beds (something I could never do in an apartment!). I could hardly contain my excitement about the opportunity to head down to the local nursery and browse all of the offerings to spruce up my flower beds (something I could never do in an apartment!). A good friend with a green thumb came along to help me discern what I might need. Well, the browsing turned into buying and the buying turned into filling up the Subaru with potted shrubs, flats of annuals, bags of soil, and even a tree. The car was so full, we had to squeeze the tree in the front between my friend and I. It was a fun day and I never could have carried that load without my Subaru.
My favorite features of the Subaru Impreza 2011 Hatchback are definitely the all wheel drive and the hatchback. This is the first all wheel drive car I have owned, and I can definitely say it's been worth it. I don't know if I can ever go back to owning a front wheel drive car again. All wheel drive isn't just for snowy winter weather. The handling and performance in the rain and even dry roads is noticeable. And, if you are going to purchase a Subaru, definitely take advantage of the roominess and cargo space a hatchback provides. I have moved two apartments worth of "stuff", hauled... (more)

I have moved two apartments worth of "stuff", hauled up to 12 bags of mulch, several outdoor plants, and even a tree in the back of my Impreza. Not to mention the fact that my dog now pretty much owns the back seat. While the Subaru may not have the features of a luxury vehicle, it is practicality at its finest. If you are looking for a reliable, practical, no-nonsense hauling machine that you can drive comfortably in all kinds of road conditions, the worry-free Subaru Impreza hatchback is the car for you.
I had problems with my Subaru Impreza right off the bat. I think that is partly why I wouldn't give this car a higher rating. Granted, the problems weren't major, but the inconvenience of having to take a brand new car in for service definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. First the right turn signal didn't work. Well, it worked, but the blinker blinked twice as fast as normal. A couple of "known issues" and "faulty parts" later it was fixed. Next came the console in the center of the front seats. The lid would not stay latched. The magnetic closure holding the cheap pieces of pl... (more)

Well, it worked, but the blinker blinked twice as fast as normal. A couple of "known issues" and "faulty parts" later it was fixed. Next came the console in the center of the front seats. The lid would not stay latched. The magnetic closure holding the cheap pieces of plastic together was broken from day one. Sure, the service department fixed it, but the aforementioned cheap plastic took a beating in the process. I've also had problems with the air conditioning hose leaking into the front passenger floor board and with the blower motor making awful noises during the years the car was parked outside. All of these problems were encountered in the first 1-2 years of ownership. Beyond the mild headaches these problems caused were the actions and reaction of the service department and the Subaru corporate offices to whom I complained of said poor service. While this rating is for the actual vehicle and not dealership from which it came, it is important to keep service in mind when purchasing any car. If you are going buy a car that has the potential of needing repairs, you at least want an honest, trustworthy, and expert service group working on the vehicle. I'm sorry to say I did not experience this with Subaru.
2013 Subaru Impreza - Makes my dog happy
I just bought this vehicle from a dealership and I fell in love with it the second I saw it. it has a beautiful black silica finish and stylish vanilla creme interior. It definitely fits my needs for an every day driving vehicle. I love that it is a hatchback, which makes it perfect for groceries and small storage of items, like bikes.

i enjoyed riding around the back country roads with my boyfriend when i first purchased the car. it handles very well around tight corners.

One of my favorite features is the comfort this car has. The seats are plush and feel luxurious, which is great for my sometimes hour plus long commutes. I love the thoughtful placement of the cup holders - and the fact it has so many. It looks small on the outside, but has surprising space and even with four people there is plenty of room. As I mentioned in my review I absolutely love the hatchback. I'm not much of a trunk person, but the hatchback I can definitely use.

It doesn't get as much fuel economy as my 2000 Honda civic, but that's to be expected. It still gets pretty great mileage, and I like the real time monitor of my fuel economy on the dash board. My only real complaint about the car is responsiveness when it comes to the gas pedal. It seems like it takes forever for the car to get going when I touch the gas, especially from a dead halt. It doesn't accelerate very fast either.
