2016 Subaru Forester - Great vehicle with a few quirks.
My Subaru Forester has been a great car to drive the last couple of years. The seats are comfortable, and it handles snow and ice quite well. I love the amount of space inside and stands up to my dogs very well.
Story
My boyfriend and I drove our two dogs to the beach nearby. The ride was very comfortable, and the dogs loved the backseat. The car was easy to clean afterwards.
Pros
Drives very well on winter weather. Perfect amount of space inside. Is a smooth ride as well. Easy to clean.
Cons
The battery doesn't hold a charge well in cold weather. I have had to start parking inside to keep the battery from dying in the winter.
1999 Subaru Forester - Solid, roomy
Subaru Foresters are really good cars. The build quality is extremely solid. While most cars now feel like tin cans, the Forester has the substance of a truck, while driving and handling like a car. The all wheel drive system is phenomenal, and makes driving in snow and ice really easy. The standard roof rack has been great for moving and canoeing. The downside of the Forester is the gas mileage, with the extra weight and all wheel drive, there's just more car to move. Expect around 22 MPG, which isn't so bad now that gas prices have dropped. The other major concern is head gaskets tend to go out in the 2.5 liter engine. If it has been replaced then you're good to go, as the replaced gasket fixes the issue.
