The Subaru Forester feels like a vehicle that will still be on the road 20 years from now. The boxer engine is made well and has more "get up and go" than other 4-cylinder engines I've owned before. The interior is well designed and the dashboard functions are easy to access while driving. Important for me, the air conditioner is so good my dogs can feel its effects in the very back of the vehicle.
Story
The Subaru Forester can go off-road as advertised. Anytime I can get a bit of mud on the car, I'm happy.
Pros
The Subaru Forester is quite efficient, getting about 27 mpg on the highway and 21 in the city. I can fill up once a week and not have to fill the car again until the following weekend. Additionally, the car is easy to maintain. The oil required in an oil change lasts longer than standard oil. I can usually swing 5000 - 7000 miles between changes.
Cons
For all of its great qualities, I wish the Subaru Forester was a bit longer. The headroom in the car is fantastic, but the cargo area could be quite bigger. Though both of my dogs can fit into the back of the car during a trip, I'm sure they would appreciate having more room to stretch and be comfortable on longer drives.

2012 Subaru Forester - Security.

I like the secure feeling that I get while driving my Subaru Forrester. I feel that I will be able to handle any road situation that may arise, wet, dry, or even loose dirt or gravel. The car feels very stable and heavier than it really is.
Story
The first time we took our large dog for a ride in town and the looks we got because he takes up almost all the cargo space in the back.
Pros
The power to weight ratio is very good. It has excellent pick-up if needed and excellent braking when in a panic stop. The traction control is constant and I never really even have to think about it in any extreme weather circumstance. The interior is roomy and comfortable with plenty of room in the back for storage, or groceries or any light hauling I might do. Especially handy for taking my garbage to the dump and excellent room, with the seats down, for my 75lb dog.
Cons
I got the basic version and do not like the fact that my doors don't auto lock when I'm driving. I would like a better sound system with Bluetooth capability.
