2005 Scion tC - Satisfied
Overall my Scion has been a good car for me. I've had it almost fifteen years now. It has over 150,000 miles on it, and there has never been anything seriously wrong. Nothing worse than the breaks needing to be replaced. I feel lucky in that regard. I'm hoping it will last a little longer until I can have enough saved for a new car. I would say the best feature of the car is it's reliability. It has never flat out broke down on me. It hasn't even spent much time in the shop. For that reason, I could recommend it to someone. But there are a few things I haven't liked about it, as well. There are small cosmetic features that haven't held up well. I have seen my parents buy some cars that didn't hold up nearly as well. Some of the cars they bought, one was American made, basically fell ap... (more)
Story
There was a part on the back of the car: the handle for the hatch that always seemed to be very fragile. One day my ex-wife was putting something in the back, and the entire handle came off in her hand. Luckily, one of the things she was putting away was packing tape. We used it to tape the part on. Afterwards, I used duct tape to hold it in place. Driving around in the following years, I can'... (more)
Pros
It's reliable and doesn't require a lot of work beyond oil changes. It drives and handles well and gets very good gas mileage.
Cons
It's not very roomy. I have a daughter, and I bought this car a few years before she was born. I would much rather have a four door going forward. I would also prefer a car with a trunk. One of the things that wore out over time was the pistons that support the hatch. It has nothing holding it up now, and it's HEAVY. On top of that, the dealership wanted over four-hundred dollars each to fix them. Also, this model was the last not to have an aux port for an iPod. But they're in the newer models, so I guess that's not serious criticism.
2005 Scion tC - It is an overly noisy car
The 2005 Scion TC is an average car targeted for budget minded consumers. Namely, it is aimed at the younger drivers looking for something that has a sporty look and offers great reliability. The Scion brand of cars are part of the Toyota family of vehicles, but it packs an exterior design that is unlike other cars offered in the Toyota lineup. This Scion TC has only one trim, that is the 2 door sports coup. From the outside, it looks very nice and looks inviting enough for you to want to test drive one. The car is powered by a Toyota Camry 2.4 Liter engine and offers similar power performance. The interior of the car offers bucket seats that will hold you snugly as you take those sharp turns. The center console has a sort of closing lid that can offer you a stylish way to cover up all... (more)
Story
One time I had 6 friends in this car while driving to the movies. Although this car is a compact 2 door coup that could only hold 4 people, we managed to get all 6 inside with 2 sitting in the trunk space. Even with all that weight, the car still performed like a champ and had no issues.
Pros
The Scion TC comes in at a very great price. It has a nice stylish sporty looking that the targeted younger crowd of drivers might be after. It also comes pre packaged with rims and z-rated tires, along with high end brake pads. It has the proven reliable engine from the Toyota Camry line of cars, so you know you're not getting a lemon
Cons
The Scion TC is extremely noisy at high speeds. Anything 65mph or higher and you'll start hearing a lot of noise from the outside. Even if you close all your windows, you'll still hear a lot of wind resistance. In turn this makes listening to music while driving at these high speed, a very bad experience. You need to turn the volume way up to get a decent sound quality from the car.
