It's a really fun car for a young, single person who can afford it. While it may lack the power you would expect for a two-door convertible, it provides the handling and speed while maintaining a solid, modern look. Even though it's a Toyota, the engine is made by Subaru. Still reliable but not as reliable as Toyota's engines. As far as I know they are generally reliable as long as you take care of it. I've only really heard of recall issues with the 2013 model year. Check your oil regularly and add as necessary and a Subaru engine will last a long time (along with regular oil changes of course). They're not as indestructible as Toyota four cylinders though.
Story
I drove mine this winter. I had her for a week (just learned manual) before the first big snow storm hit. At the time she was wearing some used Cooper all seasons. It was scary. I was attempting to navigate through 4-5 inches of a heavy wet snow that was not plowed to get to work. Immediately ordered some blizzards from tire rack and haven't felt better. I've tried to do donuts on compacted sn... (more)
Pros
It's fast, fun, sporty, and looks fantastic.
Cons
It's small, compact, and not as powerful as most people would like it to be.

The Scion FR-S is a great, fun car to drive. I like the ample power, acceleration, and great balance when it comes to cornering. With a manual transmission, my vehicle transitions through gears seamlessly and smoothly like many other Toyota coupe vehicles. The car has especially great styling. The LEDs in the headlights and taillights make it look great! I highly recommend adding the stock spoiler for that added touch.
Story
One fun story is the first time I used track mode for a normal left turn at a stoplight during rush hour. I gave it too much gas and too much steering, so the tail spun out more than I was expecting. I had to brake, then correct the direction, which caused multiple cars to start honking at me. I highly recommend practicing during off-hours first.
Pros
The most positive thing about the car is the cornering. It also includes a traction control switch with a "Track Mode," which allows more spin to the rear wheels. This mode is a must if you enjoy some quick drifting around turns. However, please make sure you do this safely because too much gas or steering can make you spin out. This car is rear-drive vehicle only, which is a rarity for a Japanese import car.
Cons
The most negative thing about the car is lack of storage space. The vehicle has no option for a center console and small glove box. The center console is open so anyone passing by can see the content placed there. I hide the garage opener in the glove box, which is a bit of a pain. But this is small trade-off for performance.
