This is a great car for basic, local transportation, but not for long trips, extended time on high-speed highways, or stuck in heavy traffic. The noise level is loud, to the point you could risk blowing the speakers on the stereo trying to hear it above the vibrations and air. Electronic seat controls on the driver's side help a little, but there's no similar option for the passenger, and the backseat is even more cramped.
Story
While remodeling the house, we were daily customers at the hardware store. Everything except the new bathtub made it home in the back of the car without much trouble.
Pros
The price, when new, was very affordable, and a large factor in purchasing it. The fold down seats and back hatch are great for moving large things. The seats themselves are easy enough to fold and unfold that a child can do it. There's a decent amount of storage for the front and back seat.
Cons
Poor gas mileage, even in a 4 cylinder, compared to other similar vehicles. Issues with sealing in the gas cap that make the car difficult to start after filling up. The car is very noisy, especially at higher speeds.

My Saturn Vue was a great 5 speed. The clutch was really easy to use. It was perfect for my family of four. The Saturn had zero issues. It was a huge gas saver. It ran smoothly.
Story
My four-year-old son threw a pebble smaller than a dime at the rear window and completely shattered it the day before a 20-hour long road trip.
Pros
My favorite feature of the SUV was that it was a 5 speed. The Saturn had room to spare.
Cons
The steering wheel locked up a couple of times but would resolve itself.
