I needed a vehicle that was easy for me to get in and out of because of hip and joint pain. So I looked at SUVs. I wanted to buy American made and Saturn fit that bill. I also had been with someone else when they bought a Saturn and really liked the way the dealership treated customers. There was no pressure and all my questions were addressed. I knew how much money I had set aside for a new vehicle and I wasn't about to pay more than I had. I didn't want to go into debt. So they worked with me at the dealership to get the vehicle I wanted for the price I could pay. The sad part of the story is that Saturn stopped making cars soon after I bought mine. I was concerned about what kind of service I would get at other dealerships. I didn't have to worry. The Chevrolet dealer hired many of ... (more)
Story
Recently my granddaughter was having a garage sale and I offered to help her find stuff to sell. So I asked friends for donations. One couple was preparing to move out of state and said they had lots of stuff she could have. We went to pick it up and they did indeed have LOTS of stuff. That was one time I was glad of the size of my vehicle! The filled it to the top. There was so much stuff in ... (more)
Pros
The size was great for getting in and out. The low seating of other cars make it painful to enter or leave. The fact that it was American made was very important to me. I really like OnStar. I don't use a mobile phone, but when I go in my car I can use OnStar to make and receive calls. I also like the monthly check-up the OnStar computer sends me in my email.
Cons
I think the negative might be that a SUV is big for an individual and isn't helpful in reducing environmental harm. If there were a car that had higher seats but weren't as long, that would probably work for me.

2009 Saturn Vue - The most reliable car.

I have had this car for a very long time. It is extremely dependable and very low maintenance. I have 167,000 miles and have had no major issues with engine or transmission. I love the way the car handles on the pavement and is comfortable to sit in for long car trips.
Story
I brought home both of my children in this car. I trusted that the children would arrive safely home with minimal movement in their car seats. The car seat latched in easily with all of the clips. The hardest part was getting the baby into the seat. I had plenty of room to ride in the back seat with my sweeties.
Pros
I love the minimal maintenance I have had down. The most I have invested is in repairing the AC. The car rides well and you absorbs bumps so you don't feel them. It has a built in trunk organizer in the back that is very handy. I like the position of the steering wheel and head rest. The car get great gas mileage. It gets around 15 miles to the gallon off highway. I can easily fit 3 car seats in the back seat. Whether you are in the front seats or the back you have plenty of leg room. I am 5'11 and I am never short of space.
Cons
The turning radius of the car is not great and you need snow tires in the winter. Also, they stopped making this car. I wish the car had a better dashboard digital system. It is not updated as today's car in Wi-Fi capability and connect to phone calling. You have to by a phone charger it does not have an USB plug. The 4 cylinder engine doesn't allow for a quick pick up when you are trying to pull out into traffic.
