2007 Saturn Vue - Stick-shift Saturn
We bought this car at a local used lot and were very pleased with the appearance but were stuck with a stick shift. ItÕs a nice, neutral green but doesnÕt look too much like weÕre going on a hiking trip. Seats are comfy, CD player works great, radio is great, loads of cup holders available. The seats do stain easily with spilled beverages, as the previous owners found out. The A/C went out on us (again), and we are stuck riding hot days with the windows down and papers blowing around. No big deal if you live in a cooler climate. Safety issues are the primary concern with vehicles anyway. The downside for us was the actual driving! The hardest thing for some people to learn is stick shift/manual. Most family members wonÕt drive the car. Also, if someone who gets car sick a lot is a pass... (more)
Story
The incident with the brake will always be remembered. A family member, who will be nameless, had parked the car in a little parking lot to do some shopping at a quiet little store. Several moments went by and someone came in the store announcing an unmanned car was in the street. Since our car was missing, we assumed it was ours, and correctly. Nothing bad happed, but being a busy street, it ... (more)
Pros
Comfortable car, great conveniences. Storage, item holders, nice sound. Drives like any other manual or so I am told.
Cons
The emergency brake is extremely important at all times when you park the car! The car will just roll off randomly. Manual is a con for our family but a pro for others. Seat fabric stains easily. As I mentioned, and the A/C stops working, but it happens in many used cars, so I wouldnÕt even factor that in.
2007 Saturn Vue - It is nothing special
The fact that it was Hybrid made me think I would be saving so much on gas. Being a smaller size SUV, those are great qualities to have. However, although it does get better gas mileage than an SUV, it does not give the better gas mileage compared to other hybrids. It does have a small gas tank so the fact I can fill it up with $20 is great. However, the tank only lasts about a week which is what my smaller four-door sedan got with the same amount of highway time. I do like the room in the back and the fact that I can pull up the floor in the back and lift up a rack for grocery bags. I do not like the color, because it is gray with gray interior. I wish it had leather seats.
Story
I have never driven in snow. I live in Tennessee, and we really don't see snow that often, but a few years ago we actually got quite a bit, and I had to leave work early, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get home. I drove this vehicle in the snow for the very first time and as scary as it was, it handled just well enough so that I made it home with no problems, even on the worst hills.
Pros
My favorite feature about this vehicle is the back space. There is plenty of room to put all my groceries plus keep my double stroller back there. It is a large flat surface, so I can also transport food without fear of anything spilling over. The rack under the floor board is very convenient to keep grocery bags up close to the hatch door. I do like that it does get better gas mileage than a SUV with the same size.
Cons
Since it is a hybrid, I did expect to get a lot better gas mileage. The words Hybrid on the frame are just misleading. It really isn't a hybrid. When the car comes to a stop at a red light or stop sign, the car sounds like it dies, then when your foot comes off the break, the car starts back up. That is because each time you push the break and come to a stop, it charges the back up battery. They car is older now, and if it sits without being driven for a few days, the battery completely drains.
