2007 Saturn Ion - It gets me places
The build quality is middling at best. The car rattles, especially in winter. And most of the components are made of plastic, so pieces break and chip very easily. On my vehicle the sunroof was not installed correctly, despite being an original sunroof. On days of heavy rain, it leaks into the headliner. The gas mileage, however, is excellent both city and highway. The look isn't much to write home about, but it isn't actively ugly either. The interior is incredibly difficult to keep clean. All of the plastic surfaces attract dust and it likes to stick there. The upholstery is also difficult to clean. I have had no luck cleaning stains out of it, no matter what I try. The trunk is spacious for the size of the car, but the pass through is fairly useless. The space (or lack thereof) betw... (more)
Story
Parking it in our space at our urban apartment is a challenge. The first time I had a friend come visit, she saw the space and said, "Oh no! there's no way you can make it with that other car parked next to you." I made the required K turn to get into the space and parked in one try. She was astounded.
Pros
It doesn't break down very much. Occasionally, little things will be wrong, but they don't prevent the vehicle from taking us places or make it unsafe. And at the end of the day, that's what a car is for. And it transports us and usually most of the stuff we need to haul around for various reasons.
Cons
Very little legroom in back. Lots of little things seem to go wrong, like the sunroof, and various dashboard lights go off for no reason (we've checked).
2014 Saturn Ion - A plastic death trap
The vehicle was mostly made of automotive plastic, totally unsafe and overall it's garbage. I bought it for a decent price because it ran okay, was pretty cheap, and got decent mileage. I avoided hitting a deer on a backroad near my parents home, and lightlhy scraped a telephone pole. The right side of the car was completely torn off. The car was literally totaled.
Pros
It got decent mileage and ran quietly.
Cons
Literally everything else about the car, it was garbage.

2001 Saturn S-Series - Gearhart Chevrolet Denville
Judy, the owner of the dealership, personally introduced herself to me upon my visit. Although I mentioned I had no intention to buy and was only in for service, she made me feel welcome and took the time to learn a bit about me.
The service department was very honest and realistic in approach to repairing my vehicle
The dealership was clean and well organized.
The service department was very timely in diagnosing the problems with my vehicle.
Although the dealership need to order parts to complete my repairs, all service was completed within one week of dropping the car off.
