The car has performed superbly. I have had zero issues and beyond regular maintenance, such as oil changes or replacing brake pads I have had to spend a total of $23.11 For a new side mounted turn indicator that had cracked and dry rotted. I drive her daily and I've chalked up over 45K miles so far. She is comfortable and very sturdy; the leather seats don't sag or crack, there is no cracking in any of the interior components and everything works as well as the day I bought her. The audio is a dream with 13 speakers and perfect clarity. The car handles well and the turbo charged engine is so fun to drive on the highway. I get great mileage (36MPG on the highway and 30MPG around town) and all of this in a sporty European sedan. The suspension is good, not great, but good. It keeps you f... (more)
Story
I remember once driving out of town and trying to see if I could raise my gas mileage up. It was a little game. It has a trip computer and calculates the gas mileage as you drive. I would sit back and monitor the computer and try to raise it up in increments of tenths. It helped pass the time as I drove 4 days across the country.
Pros
Everything! The engine and drive train are amazing and the seats are the most comfortable I've ever experienced. The gas mileage is great and the audio set up is the best I've ever heard. It's just the right size, not so small you can't fit a couple of people comfortably in the back but also not so large you have trouble maneuvering downtown while trying to find parking.
Cons
None. Absolutely none. I could say the suspension can be a bit rough, but it is a sporty set up. Other than the occasional bump or two, I really enjoy it. It's definitely geared more towards fun or fast driving versus the old man Cadillac feel.

The 1999 Saab 9-5 represents the first year of the newly designed relaunch. As you make your way into the newer models of this vehicle, you find many of the typical Saab 'quirks' erased and replaced with bland and (often times) faulty GM components. This is not the case with the 1999 9-5. It feels like a Swedish machine- good performance and the low-boost turbo does not overpower the vehicle. You have enough pep to maneuver on the road, but not so much that you put additional stress on the turbo and expose yourself to a costly repair. The interior is roomy and the seats are unlike anything you've ever experienced in an automobile. When the time comes to send my Saab off to Valhalla, I might remove the seats and place them in my living room as a fond and comfortable reminder of my good... (more)
Story
The car got me through one of the worst blizzards I've ever encountered- I think the car was in it's element!
Pros
Fuel efficiency, especially with ethanol-free petrol, is top notch. With 93 octane gas untainted by corn byproducts, I could get upwards of 46 mpg and average between 38 and 41 on most highways. The car handles well and is engineered for the driver- all controls are centrally located (born from jets, remember). Many of the repairs can be done independently if you're ambitious- Saab has a very active and knowledgeable online community.
Cons
Repairs can get costly- I've done two water pumps and that wasn't cheap. Parts are expensive in general- I adhere to stringent preventative maintenance practices to avoid some of the more costly repairs. The turbo in later model cars with the higher hp can be the kiss of death for many Saabs.
