2008 Pontiac Grand Prix Owner Ratings & Reviews

2008 Pontiac Grand Prix - Reliable car for small commutes
I purchased the vehicle used when it was a year old and 50,000 miles on it. It is one of the most reliable cars I have owed. It currently has 100,000+ miles and I have not had any major issues with it. The fuel economy is somewhat neutral at 28 mpg. The interior in 2008 was standard, but now in 2015 it is extremely outdated and starting to deteriorate. As far a engine components I have keep up on regular scheduled vehicle maintenance and have had no issues. By far if you need a reliable vehicle with no major mechanical issues then this would be a great pick.
Story
I once had 2 12' subwoofers in the trunk. Every time I would turn the radio up to high the trunk would rattle very bad and I got pulled over once for it.
Pros
This car has decent horse power and fuel economy. Extremely reliable with very low maintenance cost.
Cons
Major con for this vehicle is that they stopped making Pontiacs and somewhat hard to get fixed. The headlights do fog up on the inside to where they are not as bright.
2008 Pontiac Grand Prix - Low gas mileage and expensive replacement parts
I am displeased with the Pontiac Grand Prix in large part due to the amount of repairs that it constantly needed beyond the 35,000 mile mark. Before it hit that mark it ran about as average as a car could run, but once it hit that mile marker it became inefficient on gas consumption and mileage. I have had significant issues with the alignment of the tires on the car, and when you drive through the heat of the desert it impacts these tires greatly. I have had my oil checked consistently and without fail, the car will begin to overheat if you drive it beyond 30 minutes. It goes into the dangerous zone for overheating and it is a safety issue. The replacement parts are highly expensive, pretty much each time I take the car in it is guaranteed to cost $700+ due to the expense of the car's... (more)
Story
Someone had thrown up in the car on the way up to Payson.
Pros
One of my favorite things about this car was the leg room. I enjoyed having more leg room than usual. It is great to be able to recline in the chair as I was driving and not to feel as though I was cramped up from not being able to move. One of the benefits of this car is also the original pick-up as you begin to accelerate. The car was able to stop on a dime and move extremely fast when necessary. Originally, the handling was good as well. The handling of the car, or the power steering, was great to be able to avoid accidents or collisions that seemed to happen on the cross streets I woul... Cons
One of the biggest cons of the car was that it began to gradually under-perform relatively quickly. It was a struggle for us to be able to drive it across desert highways because it was extremely hot in that region. One of the major cons for me was that, after 35,000 miles came and went, the car began to break down and require replacement parts on a regular basis. The car's coolant did not seem very efficient either as it overheated on a regular basis. The sound system was great to have but it did not have an auxiliary port, so once iPods and mobile audio devices came out it became impossi... (more)
