1988 Pontiac 6000 - OLD RELIABLE AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE
THIS IS A VERY COMPACT RELIABLE CAR AND IT GETS PRETTY GOOD GAS MILEAGE AS WELL. THE CAR DOES NOT COME WITH A CD PLAYER OR TAPE CASSETTE PLAYER THOUGH WHICH IS A DOWN FALL. THE ENGINE THAT IS IN THE CAR CURRENTLY IS THE SAME ONE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WHEN IT WAS FIRST MANUFACTURED AND IT IS STILL RUNNING LIKE A BEAUTY IT IS VERY RELIABLE. THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO VERY RELIABLE AND IS THE ORIGINAL THAT CAME WITH THE CAR AS WELL. THE SEATS ARE CLOTH WHICH IS A GOOD THING IN THE WINTER AND SUMMER VERSUS ITS LEATHER COUNTERPART. THE ONE THING I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT THE CLOTH SEATS IS THAT I HAVE KIDS AND IT SEEMS LIKE THESE SEATS RETAIN EVERY STAIN AND THEY DO NOT COME OUT VERY EASILY AT ALL, I AM TALKING SCRUBBING FOR DAYS KIND OF STAINS. AS FAR AS THE OVER ALL RIDE GOES THOUGH IT IS A VERY... (more)
Story
ME AND MY FAMILY TOOK THE CAR JUST LAST WEEKEND TO THE LAKE NEAR OUR HOME AND WE HAD A BLAST. WE HAD THE TRUNK OPEN AND THE SPEAKERS AND FOOD LAID OUT IN SO WE COULD ALL HELP OURSELVES IT WAS AWESOME.
Pros
THE TOP POSITIVES OF THIS CAR ARE THE SMOOTH RIDE AND THE RELIABILITY OF THE CAR OVERALL, ESPECIALLY THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION.
Cons
THE SEATS ARE HARD TO GET STAINS OUT OF, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
1998 Pontiac Phoenix - Gets me to where I want to go.
I bought the car used 5ish years ago for about $2250. I like the style of the outside of the car. There's this tail / fin like thing on the trunk that's pretty neat. I like the color.. It's a sort of brownish tan. I would have preferred it if the interior was something anything rather than tannish brown. The drivers chair isn't all that comfortable. It doesn't go as far upright as I would like. Otherwise it was very roomy. A lot of space in the trunk and the backseat.
I've had into the shop many times for oil changes. Twice for new brakes. Annoyingly I needed to get something to do with the ignition key sticking in the key on turner thing switched out. The gas mileage was good, maintenance costs were fair.. There is a very fair garage in town that doesn't take ya for a ride on cost. ... (more)
Story
There is an old french fry under the seat. It was there when I bought it 5ish years ago. I haven't moved it... it will stay forever. It still looks like a fry, and I won't ever lick it or anything, but I bet it still tastes like a fry.
Pros
Has a CD player and the AC still works even though it is a fairly older (now) car.
Cons
The cons to the car are mainly me being paranoid about things that aren't actually problems.
A big con is the windows aren't power.
1986 Pontiac Fiero - Timeless Classic Look
The Pontiac Fiero is a two-seater mid-engine sports car with an unforgettable look that is still sought after by enthusiasts even today. It's fun to drive and definitely a car worth having if you get the opportunity to get one a decent condition. Sitting only a few inches off the ground, plus the rack and pinion steering lends to a very different (and fun) driving experience for someone like me who had never driven anything but pickup trucks until I got my Fiero.
Story
The experience of driving the Fiero is really something else. With the stock V6 engine it feels something like driving a slightly oversized go-kart down the interstate highway at 70mph. It can certainly take some getting used to considering you'll be sitting only a few inches off the ground while driving, but once you do it's a blast.
Pros
When I first got the Fiero, I was shocked to find out that the rich, deep red paint job was actually the same one that came with the car when it was first sold. The car is light and the handling feels very tight and precise. After bleeding the breaks and replacing the fluid the breaks handled very nicely. Even though it is a very small car, someone of my taller stature can still sit comfortably inside, though it feels more like sitting in a go-kart than a typical car.
Cons
Sadly, the Fiero does have some shortfalls, especially when it comes to servicing the car. I have had an unfortunate amount of trouble with the Fiero's AC, as well as the engine cooling. No matter how repairs I've attempted, there seems to be a slight coolant leak that results in me needing to refill the coolant every month or so. The Fiero also does tend to have a certain reputation which involves overheating, but these rumors just aren't true for any Fiero's made after 84.
