2008 Nissan Xterra Owner Ratings & Reviews

2008 Nissan Xterra - Great SUV.
I absolutely loved my Nissan Xterra. It was the best car I have ever owned. I loved how it handled in the snow, rain, sleet and sun. It was very versatile and could go anywhere and everywhere. When I had my daughter it was very easy to fit her car seat, diaper bag, stroller and baby Bjorn in it and still fit 4 other people comfortably. I loved the turning radius and speed of the car. This SUV turned on a dime. Way better than most small cars. The only thing I can honestly say I did not love about this car was the gas mileage was terrible. It didn't matter whether you were driving in the city or on highways you never got more than 18 MPH's and with gas prices these days that got expensive very quickly. That was the only thing I can honestly say that I disliked about the Xterra. I would ... (more)
Story
When my friends and I took my car out mudding. This car could go through the deepest mud there was. I had just gotten my car not too long before we decided to all go mudding in it. It had been down pouring for about a week and we found the muddiest place we could go. We were driving like crazy people through the mud, flinging it all over the place. This car never once got stuck, it never found... (more)
Pros
The best things about the Nissan were the comfortable seating for 5. You could always have 5 people in that car and go anywhere. Whether it be down the street or across the country and everyone would be comfortable. I loved the overall handling of the car. It turned on a dime and was the fastest car I have ever driven. I loved that it was so easy to get my young daughter in and out of.
Cons
The only thing I did not like about the Nissan Xterra was the gas mileage. It didn't matter whether you were driving in the city or on the highway the gas mileage was always the same, 18 MPH's and with gas prices these days that got very expensive very quickly. I didn't love that trunk flooring either. It was made out of a hard plastic and you couldn't put anything back there because it slid around all the time. I once put a carton of eggs back there and they were all cracked by the time I got home.
2008 Nissan Xterra - Xterra is a dream
The Nissan Xterra is the ideal vehicle for getting around town, but also for camping and hauling. It's easy to get in and out of it with everything from a small purse to a great Dane. The vehicle has great clearance for those surprise snow storms and tall speed bumps. A step up from any car. Nissan builds great cars and SUVs, but the Xterra specifically goes everywhere I need it too and is easy to maintain. The vehicle can go the distance of a log road trip with gas mileage to rival similar vehicles. This is the first vehicle that I have bought and refuse to sell. The Xterra is a versatile and life long vehicle. It will be neigh impossible to get me to part with this vehicle. I love the bare bones set up and my ability to customize everything from the towing package to the stereo syste... (more)
Story
During a hailstorm on a child's first camping trip, we were able to put down the back seats and play four rounds of go fish in the warmth and safety of the vehicle. The space allowed us to all be comfortable with plenty of room. This feature saved the child's first camping experience by keeping us warm and safe.
Pros
The overall as well as cargo space/size of the vehicle is perfect.
The cargo space has many loops and netting hooks to allow for a wide variety of configurations with both back seats up or down. The car is street and mountain friendly while still being compact and aerodynamic.
Cons
The accessories, like the pet guard are not very flexible and it can be hard to locate the accessories for the vehicle without going directly to the dealership. I prefer to help out a local shop for my upgrades.
