2013 Nissan Versa - No frills vehicle
The aspect I like most about my car is its simplicity. It is manual and also has manual locks and windows. While some people may find this to be a nuisance, I prefer this because I do not have to worry about the electronics of these parts malfunctioning. The car was also inexpensive, which makes me feel like I am being responsible with my money. I did not spend an extravagant amount for something to get me from point A to point B.
Pros
In addition to the simplicity of the vehicle having manual doors and windows, a positive thing for me about the car is the gas mileage. It averages around 35 miles per gallon for the driving that I do. I also have found the car to have comfortable seating as well as ample trunk space for a vehicle in its class. The car is compact and easy to maneuver in fairly small spaces. It has a warning beep for when the headlights are left on and a door is opened and also a warning beep if the handbrake is turned on. The car also has around six cup holders, which is more than enough.
Cons
The top negative things about the car include the speed and power. Because the car only has five gears, above around 50 miles per hour the engine revs very high. The car is also not able to quickly get up to speed when merging or pulling into traffic. The car does not have an interior trunk release, which is a minor negative aspect. An additional negative item is the fact that the rear seats do not have the ability to be folded down to increase the storage space. This has, on occasion, made it so that I could not transport a particular item in my car.
2013 Nissan Versa - Love my Versa
I love my Nissan Versa. I have the one with a trunk, and the space is deceptively large. I take a lot of road trips, and it's a great car for that purpose. I get excellent gas mileage, about 42 mpg, and I have never had any major problems (knock on wood). I do maintain everything pretty regularly and keep it in a garage. It rides very well, and the cabin space is also deceptively roomy. It looks like it would be pretty cramped, but it's really not. It has nice power, and I absolutely love that the Versa comes with a manual transmission, because I love driving stick.
Story
On one road trip, I was braving muddy dirt roads in Vermont, and my Versa was holding up quite well despite its light weight. The manual transmission was really a blessing.
Pros
The fuel economy on this vehicle is great, as I get about 42 mpg. I also think it is incredibly roomy for the size of the car. Both the interior cabin and the trunk have a nice amount of space; it is really kind of deceptive in that sense. While my car doesn't have lots of bells and whistles, I actually prefer manual stuff, such as manual transmission, non-power windows, etc.
Cons
The only two things that I really don't like are pretty minimal, really. I don't like that the passenger door does not have an outside lock. You have to unlock the driver's side door (with a key) and then open the passenger door from the inside. I also don't like that there is no way to open the trunk from inside the car; you have to use the key. I also had one issue with water funneling into the passenger side from a vent, and apparently others have had this issue as well.
