2016 Nissan Versa - Cheap and dependable, not fancy
Overall, the car is dependable and was cheap. I paid about $10,000 for it brand new, and then with the warranty and the tracking device on it, it was about $14,000. Price meant a lot to me since I am a graduate student. Overall, it has been fairly dependable. It is definitely not fancy and is a basic model. It literally has no power locks or power windows, which can be annoying at times. But the only things I really wanted in the vehicle was a good price and it being a stick shift. I wanted something that would last my awhile as I am not wanting to trade in the car anytime soon! I have had a few issues with it (I believe it was the airbags) that I had to get resolved within the first 20,000 miles. I also did have some issues with it stuttering (engine turning over) after the 35,000 mil... (more)
Story
Well, I once accidently left a blueberry bush in the back of my car for several weeks and it survived.
Pros
The pros of the car is definitely the cost of it and that it is dependable. I also like that I got a good deal with the price that includes an extended warranty. It's also fairly small, which makes city driving way less stressful. I can parallel park really well and easily.
Cons
I wish that it had power locks and windows! That would be a game changer for sure. I also wish that it had a sixth gear as my car stays at 4 rpms if it goes faster then 65 miles per hour. It's also not a very comfortable car, but I was not was interested in comfort as I was more focused on price and dependability.
2016 Nissan Versa - Great, economical vehicle
The vehicle is an excellent quality vehicle that isn't very old. I got mine with 62,000 miles on it, and it still drives smoothly. I appreciate the way the steering wheel handles, and it has great gas mileage. It was also a nice transition from my 2011 Kia Soul, allowing me to bring my USB drive over so I can listen to my own music that I have downloaded. As someone who likes to travel, especially travelling out of state in my car, having the right soundtrack can make all the difference. Relying on the radio can be a hassle, though if I got Sirius satellite radio, I could always use them instead.
Story
When I first got in the vehicle to test drive it, the salesperson got in the backseat since my wife was in the car too. He kept leaning forward and speaking to us about the car and seemed like an excited child due to his unfamiliarity with the vehicle itself. Me and my wife thought it was amusing, and we joked that we had to snatch the car before he bought it himself.
Pros
The best thing about this vehicle is definitely the gas mileage. When I am driving through town, I get about 29 or 30 miles per gallon. Considering how my town is fairly populated, with about 50,000 people, traffic can be an issue, so having good mileage is important. I also appreciate that it is a very low maintenance vehicle. It is recommended, according to the owners guide, that you get an oil change every four months. That is much better than my Kia soul, which required three month oil changes.
Cons
As someone who lives in an area of sporadic weather, it can be annoying getting caught in the rain. My Versa is a downgrade in this department, because it doesn't have a back windshield wiper. This can be annoying, especially when the other drivers on the road won't keep their lights on to let you know they're behind you.
