2005 Nissan Pathfinder - COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED
When I bought it, it looked elegant and strong. It had good torque and average gas consumption. I liked it because it was not as common as other SUVs like Toyota, Ford, etc.
Story
i was able to drive it through 2 feet deep flood water about 3 years ago, without the engine failing
Pros
It has room inside for all my work tools and equipment
Cons
The engine valves fail often and the complete set have had to be reset or changed more than twice. Even now, it does not fire well and has poor acceleration.
1995 Nissan Pathfinder - Excellent older SUV.
Having purchased this vehicle from a friend who was trading up to a larger vehicle, I wasn't sure what to expect. This SUV had seen a lot of miles and a fair amount of abuse. It was the right price, however, and I had heard good things about Pathfinders from friends. It has a classic design that I appreciate. I needed a vehicle that I could haul decent sized loads with but that would also be practical for in-city driving, and the Pathfinder is excellent on that front. It is dependable, and has never once left me stranded. Starts up first try every time, despite its age and rugged use.
Story
I tied an inflatable raft to the rack on top, but didn't do the best job as I was close to home and "thought it would be fine" (the clarion call of the idiot). As soon as I got up to speed the raft blew up and off the rack, getting a fair amount of air before crashing down in the middle of the street. I had to run quickly back and drag it off the road before any other cars came along. That one... (more)
Pros
It is very comfortable. The seats feel good and my model even has seat warmers, which hit the spot this winter. It has a rear-mounted spare tire that is easy to access if you need to without some of the tricky maneuvering that some carriage-mounted spares require. The rack on top is perfect for those times I can't fit the entire load in the back but need to get it in one trip.
Cons
There is not quite enough space in the back. It seems like the bed could be lower to allow for a bit more clearance. It could use a tighter turn radius for those times you find yourself in tighter spots. Moisture seems to get inside easily at night, and you will find yourself having to defrost the inside windows occasionally. This was probably one of the last vehicles to come WITHOUT built in cup holders, which is a hassle if you've forgotten how to drive with a coffee cup between your knees.
