Overall I like this car. It is not particularly inspiring, but it is very utilitarian. It has good running costs and performs as needed. The Maxima always starts and carries five in relative comfort. The trunk has a reasonable amount of space for groceries and luggage. It has good pick up for merging on to highways and passing. Steering is responsive and the car feels rather sporty in general.
Story
On a trip to TN, the car just ate up the miles. Things seemed to move very quickly as it kept up a steady cruise without as many gas stops as my SUV.
Pros
Car is at least pretty good at most things. It is reasonable spacious and quick. Gas mileage is pretty good. It has proven to be very reliable. We have had no real mechanical issues. I have only had to do the tires and brake pads once in over seven years. Only issue has been the tire sensors which seem to go out of whack at times. I have not bothered to fix this as I do not need sensors to tell when the tires are low.
Cons
Ride is a bit firm for a sedan. Tire noise is also an issue, especially in the back seat for some reason. Also there is some low lying plastic at the front of the undercarriage that can become damaged by speed bumps if you hit them a bit too fast. However it can be easily fixed with zip ties and elbow grease.

The Maxima has always been a favorite with those who love power, handling and performance mixed with a high level of luxury, quality and reliability. In its first year of a complete redesign, the 2009 Nissan Maxima took on a more aggressive look that's reminiscent of a stretched 370Z sport coupe. In fact, Nissan has always billed the Maxima as the "4-door sports car," and the 2009 model further lends credibility to the claim. Although it lacks the option of a manual transmission, the Maxima is just as enjoyable to drive as more expensive sedans from Audi, BMW, Infiniti and Lexus. It comes with a long list of standard and optional equipment including high-end features such as a ventilated driver's seat, a Bose audio system, a heated steering wheel, and voice-activated navigation and au... Have gotten compliments on my car at my local mall.
Pros
Stealthy styling; potent V6 engine; admirable ride and handling; a well-appointed cockpit; an excellent navigation and audio system; good reliability ratings
Cons
No manual transmission option; continuously variable transmission is not an enthusiast's first choice; upper trim models can be pricey; cooling seat is a driver-only option
