My Frontier is fun to drive and handles well in bad weather and on bad roads. The approach to my house is hilly and difficult to get in and out during snowy or icy conditions. Thus the 4WD. Also, my grandkids think it's cool!
Story
My great nephew, age 10, likes to help me take the trash out to the road for pickup. Not because he actually wants to take out the trash, but because we take it out in the Frontier and he likes it when I put the pedal to the medal. Not something he experiences in his mother's Cruze.
Pros
My truck is the King Cab model, which gives me more room for storage, shopping etc. as well as more leg room. The 4WD works nicely and has allowed me to extract myself from a couple of ditches without having to call the tow truck. I chose the full bed rather than the short bed. This allow me plenty of room for the light hauling that I do. The bed height is good for loading and unloading.
Cons
King Cab is definitely not meant to have additional passengers, even though there are jump seats/safety belts available. When using the low range on 4WD it sometimes "sticks" there and is difficult to get it to shift back to high range 4WD. Have had to replace one of the rear axle seals twice and have less than 100K miles on the truck. When I take the truck in for regular servicing, the Nissan dealer always tries to upsell services. I find this very annoying. No room for child seats in the back in the King Cab model.

The 2012 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X gives all the utility of a full-size truck in a small package. The 4.0L engine produces enough power and torque that the truck feels snappy and responsive in acceleration, while the front and rear disc brakes allow for quick deceleration. Interior trim is basic but durable, yet still stylish enough that luxury is not compromised. The Pro 4X off-road addition adds many features, such as a rear-locking differential, Dana 44 rear axle, and hill-descent assist make this little truck as a head-to-head contender with the Toyota Tacoma TRD. Overall, if you're looking for a compact do-it-all truck the Nissan Frontier will get it done.
Story
This truck excels at backcountry driving with the low range 4x4 system. Taking the truck deer hunting on county roads and into rough fields is no issue. One time, I had the truck up to four feet deep in a muddy stream crossing and it pulled through with no issues.
Pros
Excellent standard features such as moon roof, heated leather seats, and roof rack. Bed tie-down system is robust and works excellently. 4X4 system is intuitive and easy to operate. Very robust and well thought out practical features.
Cons
Fuel economy is average, at best (17-18 mpg combined). Bed length is only five feet. Oil filter is in strange location behind radiator and is difficult to access.
