The Altima is a wonderful car that I had been eyeing since its introduction to the Nissan line. My first car was a 1973 Datsun 240Z which was one of my favorite cars, although it had many shortcomings. The Altima has no shortcomings as far as fit and finish. I bought the car new from the dealer and aside from standard wear replacement of brakes, tires, a serpentine belt, and FOB batteries, the only mechanical issue I've had with the car was a heat shield rattle which was corrected by simply adjusting the heat shield. All other functions of the car have worked well throughout my ownership. The only annoyance I can report (and it's more of periodic inconvenience) is that the clock runs fast about one minute per month. I have a friend who owns the same model year as I and she reported... Story
I left my car at my mother's to take her car to a relative's house one winter day. We were gone for about 8 hours. It was dark when we returned and I noticed my headlamps were on. I opened the (locked) car door and a blob of heat radiated outward. I had forgotten to turn off the car! I think I only used about a 1/4 tank.
Pros
The car is adequately powered and the CVT performs well. It has a reasonable sound system and a nice array of mileage, speed, and efficiency data available on the dashboard. A feature I like is the outside temperature available on the dash. The air-conditioning has worked well and not needed repair or recharging in the eight years I have owned the car. The steering wheel controls to change the radio station and volume are of great convenience and safety. The cruise controls on the steering wheel are also a great feature. The keyless entry and ignition are a huge convenience for me as I... (more)
Cons
The cloth on the interior doors and center console are subject to a great deal of dirt and wear. The leg room in the rear is limited. I don't care for the emergency brake and wish it were a pull handle in the center console (even though that reduces room) instead of a pedal.

The vehicle runs, but I've had numerous problems with quite a few things. It's possible the previous owner did not treat the car right, but I also have a close friend with the same year, make and model Altima. He's had quite a few problems, mainly with transmission. After a quite quick Google search, I found out the problem I have with the engine misfiring and with the car starting only after turning the key a few times, is actually an extremely common problem with the cars. The exterior has kept a decent condition, I've had no problems with the build at least, but I also have no air conditioning as my compressor is broken, and my engine temp gauge jumps all the way up then back to the middle a few times every drive.
Story
I've been able to bring my ten-month old daughter safely to the park, beaches and family residences.
Pros
The exterior has stayed in very good shape, and the seats are moderately comfortable. I also have room for my two rear-facing car seats in the backseat. Although it took a lot of work to fit it in, I've also fit a plastic toddler bed completely inside the backseat and the mattress in the front seat.
Cons
I have quite a few mechanical problems with the transmission, the compressor, and the engine temperature (gauge). In the half a year I've had this car, I've also had to get my front axle completely replaced. Apparently it is a very common problem. The car takes a few tries to start it. If it has been shut off for 10 minutes–a couple of hours and I try to start it up again, I have to try to start it a couple of times until it starts again.

I found Lydia, one of the owners, to be extremely courteous and helpful. This is a small car dealership, so they really give the customer a lot of one-on-one attention. They also did not try to get me to buy a more expensive vehicle. They gave me a fair price for my older trade-in vehicle as well. The car has held up very nicely, and I think I paid a fair price for it. They are a wonderful dealership and I would buy from them again!
