2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - Great SUV.
I've had the Mitsubishi Sport for 15 years, and it has been a great vehicle. I've never had a serious problem with it and have done routine maintenance on it. It broke down one time because the alternator went bad, but other than that, I have done what I consider scheduled maintenance. It rides better than many larger SUVs and if reasonable comfortable for long trips. I often drive it on 800 mile trips with no problem. The inside is ample without any frills, but has everything I need. Power windows is about it for luxury items. It is pretty versatile when it comes to hauling larger items. It handles ok, but I wouldn't want to be in a near accident with it because it can be a little sketchy in fast turns. Fuel mileage is about 20 on average which is not too good for a small SUV. Story
My wife and I quite often use the vehicle to go on fishing excursions. We have routinely loaded our fishing gear and gone to a park on top of the mountain in Huntsville, AL and thoroughly enjoyed the SUV.
Pros
Reliable, easy maintenance, versatile.
Cons
Gas mileage, handling is not the best.
2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - Comfortable and safe.
I really like my Mits. I have owned a few other used cars, but none have compared to this one. I have had the SUV for almost 6 years, and have not had to do any repairs except regular maintenance. I know that it is just an SUV, but I use the cargo space in the back to haul wood for my fireplace. I get clean hardwood, and it stacks nicely in the back. It is a good size for me to take my 4 Grandchildren with me, when I go shopping or driving around.
Story
My husband and I have taken it camping on several occasions. We have driven up to the mountains and found secluded camping spots. The vehicle has a roof rack, but there was always enough room inside, and we have never had to use the rack. (I take a lot of creature comforts when I go camping).
Pros
Very sound and sturdy (o rattles or noises). Dependable (knock on wood, it has never stranded me). Great gas mileage . Easy to drive (I am not a very tall person, and easy for me to drive). Comfortable (leather, heated seats, nice in the winter). It's a nice looking vehicle (a nice looking silver). Easy maintenance. Roomy Interior (lots of room for the grandchildren).
Cons
It's a little high to step into (I am only 5' 1"), so if I am parked on an area that has low spots, it can be a challenge to climb into.
