2005 MINI Cooper - Solid car but doesn't stand out

This car is solid. Nothing really wrong with it, and it has been reliable. It's moderately fun to drive, and of course, its small size is a plus when you're maneuvering and parking. Overall, it doesn't really stand out. The fuel economy is fine but not tremendous and has been outclassed by the modern selection of vehicles (not to mention electric and hybrids). Without the S package, it's not super sporty; although, it's somewhat quick. It has some little quirks that I personally find annoying but aren't deal breakers. Not a car you regret owning, but not a true joy to own/drive either.
Story
Everyone notices this car, and it is frequently a conversation starter. I remember purchasing a Christmas tree from a local lot. I received lots of laughs and comments about having a tree strapped to the top of this car. Everyone just tends to feel like they can comment and do so in a friendly way.
Pros
Economical. Quick. Unique look. Fun Mini owner community. No problems putting a toddler car seat in the back.
Cons
Low torque makes it slow off the line — does fine at higher rpm. Weird quirks about the way the defrost and door locks work that I find annoying. Not as economical (or even as small) as you might think. Obviously space is limited.

I have put more than 100,000 miles on my 2005 Mini Cooper, and it still runs great. Yes, repairs can be expensive, simply because it takes a lot of labor to get to different parts of the vehicle (i.e. Headlights, air conditioning), but my repairs have been few and far between.
Story
While it is a smaller vehicle, I had no trouble fitting in two large dining room chairs I found on sale. I happened upon them, wasn't expecting to buy chairs, and I figured I'd have to drive home and get my husband's car in order to bring them home, but they fit fine, with room to spare. The salesperson was in shock!
Pros
I still get great gas mileage (about 35 miles/gallon combined highway and city), and the car still looks great, even after 10 years. And it still brings a smile to my face and to the faces of passersby. I strongly recommend getting the winter package, with heated seats and side-mirror defrost. As a small car, it heats up and cools off quickly, but there's nothing like instant seat warmth on a freezing day. The rear seats fold down and back up in a snap.
Cons
It can be a challenge for long-legged passengers to fit into the passenger seat and almost impossible for them to sit comfortably in the rear. And it is a bumpy ride. And I didn't realize until after I'd purchased the vehicle that the rear side windows can't be opened. That is a big negative. But, overall, I still love my car.
