2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 - Perfect car for a college student or young professional
The Mazda3 I Touring is a compact, sporty 4 door sedan. What I initially liked about it was all of the extra features compared to other models in its class. The Mazda3 came with more airbags and more audio speakers that its competitors, plus control buttons on the steering wheel. Some of these things were actually deciding factors because of the enhanced safety and also because they chose to provide something a little extra. The performance of the car was very good. Though it contains a smaller engine than the other Mazda models, I had no problem with acceleration, braking, or engine overheating. When I test-drove the car, I considered these factors because of all the highway driving I was doing at the time. I love the way that the car handles. It has very tight steering and drives lik... Story
This vehicle was given to me by my father after high school graduation, so it has a special place in my heart. I used to use it to drive home to visit my parents almost every weekend of college (about 120 miles each way) when I was homesick.
Pros
Positive things about this vehicle include a good safety rating and overall quality of the product. I have not had to replace any failing parts of the interior or engine, aside from a battery replacement (which is pretty normal). One of my favorite features is the steering wheel control buttons--you can scan radio stations, adjust volume, and set cruise control all by moving your thumbs across the wheel. This makes it so that you don't have to remove your hands from the wheel, which is convenient and also a safety consideration.
Cons
I don't work for Mazda or anything, but I can honestly say that it's hard for me to come up with any "cons" for this vehicle. The only thing I can think of is that the engine is a little small and low-horsepower, but it's actually great in its class and it is exactly what you're paying for.
2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 - Fun, reliable, practical, and affordable.
I could not be happier with my Mazdaspeed3. I wanted a fun car with a six-speed manual transmission. Since I have kids, I needed a four door car, and I am able to transport quite a bit of stuff in the hatchback. The car has been very reliable, and, man, is it fun to drive.
Story
My wife and I have enjoyed watching drive-in movies, opening the hatch, and sitting in the back.
Pros
Fun to drive! The car has a ton of "get-up-and-go", and if you want more speed, it is very tunable. Affordable: I purchased the car with 64k miles, one owner, perfect paint and interior for 10k. Reliable. I have never had any problems with the car. Practical. It has four doors, and I can fit plenty of junk in the hatch.
Cons
Gas mileage. Since the gas pedal is so addicting, expect to average around 20 miles per gallon. Mazda stopped making them in 2013. It may become more difficult to find one in good shape for a good price.
