It's a mini minivan. It's a blast to drive Gets great fuel economy. Has a lot of nice options. Not many of them on the road.
Story
We drove all the way from South Carolina to Massachusetts. That was fun!
Pros
Great fuel economy. Sliding doors. Fun car to drive! Great travel vehicle. Great options on vehicle.
Cons
Tires wear out fast. Road noise. Not a ton of room. Only seats 6, not 7. Not many on the road.

I was looking for a car that would have an extra row of seats to be able to drive my kids and their friends around, comfortably, and did not want to get a mini-van. The Mazda 5 fit the bill perfectly. It has plenty of room in the back for big Costco runs, and can also fit extra kids in the back if needed. It's quite compact from the outside and surprising to see how many people can actually fit in it, however in the inside it is roomy and handles beautifully. Gas mileage is great, sound system is great, never had any major issues with the car at all. I love that the radio, cruise control, and car stats can be controlled via the steering wheel. There are plenty of cup holders and spaces to hold drinks and cell phones in the front row. The sliding side doors are one of my favorite featur... (more)
Story
We went to a nearby lake and got stuck in the sand on the "beach" area. Had to be pulled out by a truck. The clearance was just way too low.
Pros
Extra row of seats (to fit 6 total people), captains chairs in middle row, steering wheel touch controls for radio and cruise control, side sliding doors, roomy trunk space when last row is folded down. Love that you can also fold down the middle row and have a huge space to fit almost anything in the back after an Ikea run!
Cons
Sliding doors are manual and would have preferred automatic ones, leg room in the third row is quite tight, which was fine when the kids were smaller but a little harder as they're growing up and getting taller. Wish the trunk area was more of a smoother feel than "carpeted" simply because my dog's fur gets trapped in the fibers and can't come out no matter how much vacuuming is done. Sand gets trapped in there too. Wish the color packages for interior had more options than light grey or black. Didn't get black leather because of summer heat so went with light grey. The light grey shows lo... (more)
