Mazda Mazda3 Owner Ratings & Reviews

2007 Mazda Mazda3 - Great budget car with low maintenance.
The car has held up remarkably well despite having close to 100k miles on it. Aside from some minor issues, i.e. less than $1k each, the maintenance costs on the car have been very manageable. Even though it looks small from the outside, it is comfortable for even tall people to sit in, in both the front and the back. Additionally, the trunk has more space than it appears from the outside. The only thing that has gone wrong with the car that I don't want to spend money on fixing is that sometimes the "open door" sensor comes on, even when all doors are securely closed. Because of this, I've had to turn off the interior lights that come on when a door is opened. This is unfortunate due to safety concerns especially at night.
Story
I live in the city, and I am not the best parallel parker, but this car has a delightfully tight turning radius, in addition to it being a small car. It makes it much easier to park, even with my sketchy parallel parking skills. It has made me feel a bit more confident in this skill because I know that I can wedge it in where I need to!
Pros
For a small not sporty car, it has great acceleration. It's one of my favorite things about this car. Also due to its small size, it has pretty good gas mileage on the highway at 30+ miles per gallon. Although some items have been to wear on the car (e.g. the button on the emergency break is now cracked), for my having owned it for 11 years and almost 100,000 miles, it is holding up very well, so I would rate it very high on reliability. It's a small thing, but I'm also glad that it has an AUX in port, so I can connect directly to a cell phone and play music or podcasts during my long comm... (more)
Cons
My biggest negative about this car is the small flaps that cover the holes in the bottom of the door. The holes should easily let water run out through the bottom of the door without water getting into the car, but the flaps enable dirt to build up, which block the holes. This happened a few too many times, resulting in both water build up in the door and water overflowing from the door and getting into my car. I also think that road noise in this car is pretty loud.
2015 Mazda Mazda3 - Safe, quaint, and comfortable
I have a black Mazda 3 I purchased from a friend who was moving away and unable to finish his car payments. I'm a fan of the car. It has amazing gas mileage. I've taken it up and down the country to visit family and friends, going to concerts, 12-13-14 hour road trips. The trunk has an amazing amount of space for something so small. One of the downsides is the onboard media center can be a little finicky, which in the long run ends up being a very minor thing, something as simple as pulling over and resetting it usually fixes the problem. Other than that, it's a smooth ride with great control and great space. The tires seem maybe a little thin, but I was on the stock tires for another three years after the fact before they needed any replacing. Great dash system that tells you if your ... (more)
Story
Driving to Chicago to see my favorite band play (11-hour road trip). I drove all the way from my home state, through a lot of the Midwest. Visited friends in Chicago, got to see the sights and the sounds. Had some great food, and the next day I watched the reunion of my favorite band of all time. They played amazingly, and it was everything I wanted. I would not trade it for a moment in time.
Pros
The dash and onboard media are very easy to use, easy to control. Gas mileage was amazing. Comfortable seats and ride. My favorite feature is easily the media center. I play podcasts off my Bluetooth on my phone straight to my cars speakers.
Cons
The media center in time or in extreme heat can malfunction slightly and require turning off the car and trying it again.
