I have always driven Toyotas, but we recently switched one of our cars to Mazda for cost. It is a reliable, mid-sized SUV, that gets us to and from places. The trunk space is more limited than other mid-sized SUVs I've had due to where the tires cut into the trunk-space. The gas mileage is what you would expect with an SUV. We have driven it 20,000 miles, and the car is still running well. We haven't heard any weird noises or rattling.
Story
We frequently take our Mazda on road trips with our dogs. The car is spacious enough to put both dog crates in the back seat.
Pros
The back seats go all the way down to allow transporting of large items. The cloth the seats have held up well over time, even with two dogs. The seats are easy to clean. The car drives well with a decent turning radius. The car heats up and cools down in a reasonable time. I like that the control buttons are next to the center console rather than next to the screen.
Cons
There is only one cup holder in each door, the other areas are too small to hold anything large. We have a push to start model, but the key fob buttons still have to be used to open the car which seems to defeat the purpose. The locking confirmation beep is very loud. The back up camera has a longer delay to appear than our other car, and the picture isn't as clear.

I purchased the Mazda after having a second child as I needed something bigger to handle two car seats. I was nervous as I had always driven compact cars prior to this, however, that was immediately put to rest after driving this SUV. It's a smooth drive with many great features such has blind spot indicator, heated seats and built in navigation/touch screen.
Story
My father has a lot of back pain and often experiences pain while sitting in the car. I was so thrilled when he could sit comfortably in my car.

It's louder than I would like and a little cramped in the back as the children get bigger.
