2016 Mazda CX-5 - Terrific vehicle for the family
Mazda continues to produce quality vehicles that offer a combination of great driving feel and safety for the family. The CX-5 has terrific component build quality while also making it easy to access compartments that you might need to for quick fixes and repairs. While I drove the CX-5, I did not encounter a single mechanical problem while following the manufacturer's recommended service schedule. It had the feel and gas mileage of a sedan but offered the stability and safety of a mid-sized SUV. I loved the sound system and appreciated the AUX input so I could take full advantage of my music playlists. There's enough space in the trunk for two bikes with front wheels detached, and more.
Story
I often think back to days when my children and I drove around the neighborhood with the windows down, playing their favorite songs so that they felt comfortable singing and enjoying the music that they love.
Pros
The CX-5 delivers great gas mileage for being an SUV. The speakers are surprisingly good at the base level so no upgrade was necessary. The vehicle responds very well to steering wheel input so you are able to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected situations on the road. This gives a high level of safety to the driving experience.
Cons
My vehicle had the cloth interior, which picked up some stains rather easily. While the Sport CX-5 performed well in crash tests and ratings, there is certainly room for more standard safety features like front cameras, auto braking, etc. The CX-5 may come in at a higher cost than other similar vehicles, but it retains value and quality well so that may alleviate those initial costs. The initial pick up of the Sport trim also left a little to be desired when compared to other vehicles in the same category.
