2005 Lincoln MKZ - Luxury.
The perks of this car are many. I like that it has all the amenities. It rides well. The heated and ac leather seats have held up well. The vehicle averages over 26 mpg throughout its life. It has weathered well even being left outside for many years.
The car is not great in the snow in spite of all wheel drive. I have to confess that I do not put on snow tires which I bet would make a difference.
Story
When we turned 100000 miles on a family trip. The kids all watching. We were driving in the mountains on a week long family vacation. We spent time at the beach and ocean. We went everywhere on this trip. The trunk is huge. My son had left a chocolate milk in the hot son for three days but pulled it out and drank it before anyone could stop him. We laugh about it all the time.
Pros
The look, the bells and whistles. The comfort and how it handles.
Cons
Winter driving.
2007 Lincoln MKZ -
The Lincoln MKZ was a decent car, but considering what it costs, that is not good enough. It had pretty good pickup, and the gas mileage was pretty good considering it was AWD. The car really looks nice from the outside, and has all the features you'd expect for the price inside. Unfortunately, these features have a pretty bad track record. The warranty sounds great at the dealership, but the list of things it doesn't cover ends up being too long.
Story
When my wife and I first moved to Indiana and had some time to kill before our jobs started we drove it all the way around Lake Michigan to get used to the area.
Pros
Looks great.
Good powertrain.
Decent gas mileage, good for AWD.
AWD gives good traction.
Cons
Little things broke way too often on the car, and most were not covered by warranty. None of them were big expenses, but they added up quickly and turned out to be a major hassle. I knew the cost to buy when I bought it, but the cost to own was much higher than I expected.
