2011 Kia Sorento - Great car at low price
We bought the Kia Sorrento because we needed a car that could transport more kids and all of the bags that go with that. The Sorrento has been able to meet and exceed our expectations. There are many good things about it and very few negative things that we have found owning this car for 3 years. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a good sized SUV.
Story
The first time we had to put the sousaphone in the back of the car was interesting. We had to move the other things around, but it ended up fitting without too much trouble. We learned from that experience to put the tuba in first.
Pros
The biggest plus about this car is the price. For a SUV that can seat 7, this car cost less that 23,000. It has many features that more expensive cars lack. Some of the features that we like include:
Hands free phone through Bluetooth
Backup camera and warning
5 year bumper to bumper warranty
Dealer service department has been great
Cons
Cost of new key - we had to get a key for our son who was getting his driver's license. $42 and it takes 7-10 days to get.
Not able to get more than 2 remotes for the doors
Back seat has broken twice and left it unable to tilt backwards or forwards. Both times it was fixed quickly at no cost.
2007 Kia Sorento - Reliable, roomy and practical
There is plenty of room in the Kia. The cargo space was very large. What I love best about this car is the reliability. It has never left me stranded or concerned about taking long trips.
Story
I bought this car new when my daughter was a teenager. One Friday night we were at a school football game with me, my daughter and her friend. She met up with some friends, five of them, that didn't have a ride home. So I laid down the seats in the back and piled six teenagers in the back and delivered them all over town. I know that wasn't exactly safe, but it was certainly a fun memory.
Pros
Spacious. Large cargo space. Rear-wheel drive. Smooth ride compared to other makes. Power doors locks and windows. The style of the Kia was very appealing to me. Great gas mileage.
Cons
Steering was too hard. The back passenger side door broke, and the only way to repair it was to cut a hole in the door panel. No radio controls on steering wheel. Riddled with suspension problems, but not until over 200k miles.
