2007 Kia Optima Owner Ratings & Reviews

2007 Kia Optima - Dependable and Efficient
I have owned this car for over eight years and have put over 100,000 miles on it with little trouble. The only replacements have been tires, windshield wipers, and a fan belt. I did have some issues with the headlights burning out within a month, but this ended up being because of a hairline crack in the light cover that was allowing moisture to hit the bulb. Once that was sealed, the light bulbs have lasted like normal. Fuel efficiency has also been excellent. I recently went on a 1,600-mile, one-way trip and the fuel cost was roughly $120. It typically gets in the higher 30's mpg on the highway.
Story
My car has been used to chase violent storms and that's always a foolhardy, but fun adventure as long as you keep a safe distance.
Pros
I liked the efficiency of the vehicle. The gas mileage has stayed consistently in the high 30's mpg on the highway. I also think it has continued to run well with regular maintenance and tire replacement when necessary. The price is reasonable for the type of car you're getting. The car and trunk are also quite spacious and comfortable for driver and passengers.
Cons
I think the interior material is subpar. It collects hair and dirt and is not easy to clean thoroughly. I would go with vinyl or leather seat covers in my next car. I also had an issue with the weather strip around the windshield not holding its adhesive, even after reapplying more glue. That eventually had to come off entirely because nothing was holding it in place and a corner would fly up while driving. It's also a bit weak in the speed department. I don't feel I ever have enough power to pass someone unless I can see a couple miles down the road and can ensure I have enough time to bu... (more)
2007 Kia Optima - Reliability for a Dollar.
I've liked almost everything about the vehicle I own now. It's got enough power to be fun to drive around town and on the highways, but it's also comfortable enough on bumpy and rough roads that I'm not wishing for something else. It's been extremely reliable for the past 4 years of ownership. I've kept up on all maintenance recommended in the manual and I think that's what has kept it in running order for so long.
Story
I remember driving this car down a back country road, going maybe 80 miles an hour and the hum of that little 4 cylinder and the wind was really magical. I'm a huge car guy though so that's probably got a huge part in how much I love and take care of my vehicle.
Pros
Fuel economy is pretty decent. It's definitely not on par with a sub compact or a hybrid. But 22-24 mpg in the city and almost 30 on the highway is definitely good enough for my budget. Again, the reliability is the biggest pro in my opinion. Nothing serious has gone wrong with the car. (Knock on dashboard). I've always made sure to change the oil every 5000 miles or so and kept up on any serious maintenance recommended in the owners manual.
Cons
So far the biggest con that I have with the vehicle is the interior quality. Both of the front interior door handles snapped. One my brother broke and the other a mechanic broke. Also now that I think about it one of my headlights seems to dye out every six months or so. Other than that the car really is mechanically sound.
