2001 Jeep Wrangler - Great do anything vehicle. Didn't buy it to get good gas mileage

The vehicle's style hasn't changed much since coming out. With only a couple different changes (headlights/interior) the Jeep has a very classic look. Up until 2007 these things were made to last, mostly metal, now the new ones are mostly plastic. It is a very utilitarian vehicle and looks better with scratches, dents, and mud on it. It also doesn't bother me that it's not in the most pristine condition because it's a Jeep. The ride is rough and I would say it handles better and is more comfortable off-road. I'm fairly tall (6'4) but I fit comfortably, however if their is an average size person behind me they wouldn't. You would be surprised at how much you can actually carry with a little planning. I ripped out the carpet and with a soft top you can hear wind noise, however still able... (more)
Story
3 day backwoods camping trip. Lots of mud and rain. Held up very well and got us through the trails with ease. Covering this thing head to toe in mud and letting the rain wash it off is always a blast.
Pros
It can go anywhere Easy to maintain/work on Upgrades Rugged convertible Scratches, dents, and rust show it's been used for what it was made for Fun to drive People are always envious of it and want it Great resale value
Cons
Gas mileage

When I first lay eyes on my firecracker red Jeep Wrangler, my heart skips a beat. The ability to go completely topless without the Jeep top and doors and drive off road is one of the prime features. Whether it's on a trail or driving down the main drag, the Jeep can handle whatever the road give it. With it's subwoofer and built-in speaker system, you can drive in style. With a seemingly endless options to tailor your Jeep to your style, it is truly a car you can call your own.
Story
One of my favorite memories with my Jeep is taking a group of girlfriends on a road trip to Napa Valley with the top down and the doors off. Feeling the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces as we drove from one winery to the next was the highlight of our trip.
Pros
The Jeep has top of the line capability to handle whatever and wherever a road takes you with its horsepower and rock climbing capabilities. Half doors, no doors, soft top, hard top...the variety of options to customize the look of your Jeep enables you to make it truly unique to you. With a universal screw system, you can change or add on items to your car with just one tool. The Jeep is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts with plenty of cargo space for equipment and the power to travel the back roads. My Jeep recently hit 50,000 miles and has only required regular maintenance.
Cons
Most Jeep owners don't buy a Jeep to save money on gas. The Jeep has a 16 mpg highway gas usage and 21 mpg on the highway. With all the options for customization, the Jeep can be a prize for car thieves. Jeep owners definitely need to invest in anti-theft devices and be vigilant when leaving their Jeep unattended. Regular maintenance can also be pricey to keep the Jeep in smooth running order.
