Jeep Wrangler Owner Ratings & Reviews

1995 Jeep Wrangler - An awesome, fun, reliable Jeep
The quality of these vehicles is exceptional. Not only is the overall build sturdy and rugged but has very easy access to all components without having to take many things apart. The engine bay is right in your face, not covered by other mechanical parts like most modern vehicles. I purchased my Jeep used with just over 100k miles, put on an extra 45k, and still no problems or need for any major repairs, aside from the clutch. It can certainly be a bit loud, but that is part of the charm of '95 Jeep Wrangler! Not only is it built tough but exceptionally fun to drive.
Story
Removing the hard top and taking it onto the sand at a local beach had to be one of the most memorable moments, as I had never done such a thing before.
Pros
A big plus is the removable hardtop. This is definitely great for that hot, summer weather! Almost any component can be easily swapped out or upgraded without having to pay for the high costs of labor to have someone else do it. It can also switch into 4X4 for any towing or fun purposes. It has to be one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned.
Cons
One of the drawbacks is the aerodynamics. It's basically a box on wheels and therefore can be a bit harsh on the mpg. It also lacks power steering, so sometimes on those slow turns, it can be a bit of a workout. It doesn't have A/C, and there is not much protection from cold weather, aside from the heater since there is no inside panels to help keep warmth in.
2003 Jeep Wrangler - reliable gas hog
The main thing I like about it is how well it's held up and how safe we feel it . The main thing I hate is how much gas it takes and the blind spots. That's why I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. It's also difficult teaching the kids how to drive in it because it's so big, they can't figure out where the vehicle sits on the road or drive safely in narrow lanes if there's a curb on one side.
Story
We went camping once and a horrible rain storm came, we folded down the seats and the kids and I threw our sleeping bags in the back. My husband stuck it out in the tent until it collapsed (we let him in the back with us) even though he was soaking wet.
My children and I drove all the way to California form Arkansas in it last summer. That was a lot of fun and we never had any issues with it.
Pros
It's roomy and comfortable. It never breaks down (except once) even with so many miles on it. I feel like it's a safe family vehicle. I like that it reminds me when I need gas and to change the oil too. I like the sunroof, but sometimes if you don't close it just perfectly it leaks...so pro and a con.
Cons
The gas it takes to drive to school and work is just ridiculous. I probably spend 500 dollars a month at the gas pump. I feel like I'm polluting the environment, so our next vehicle is going to be more eco friendly. It also could use a little more power going up hills. You really have to give it gas to keep your speed up. Any repairs are fairly costly and the tires cost twice what tires for a small vehicle would. There are blind spots that are horrible and it's easy to hit someone if you don't know where they are. I also hate the leather seats in the summer if you wear shorts or a skirt. I... (more)
