2003 Jeep Wrangler - Most fun on four wheels
I loved this vehicle for a variety of reasons. Off-roading was a snap! This Jeep could handle any terrain! The inside of the car is a lot more comfortable than one would imagine from the outside. There was plenty of legroom in both the front and the back. Plus, since they started redesigning the new wranglers to make them more box-like, this old 2003 model has curved and looked much more like the old style of the Jeeps. It was also a surprisingly comfortable ride. It was a little noisy at times when I would get up on the highway but other than that it was never terrible. The roll bar over the vehicle definitely helped me feel protected in case I ever got into an accident or rolled it while mudding. The engine itself was nothing to ignore. It had very good acceleration and could get up ... (more)
Story
Every time I would go down to Galveston or over to Livingston to go fishing and camping, I would take my Jeep with me. Whenever my friends would offer to drive I would tell them that I would meet them there. It was just too much fun to drive and always showed me a good time.
Pros
The fun that we had in this vehicle is unparalleled. We drove it everywhere and never had an issue with it.
Cons
The major downside to the vehicle would have to be the gas mileage. At about 15 miles per gallon, it definitely burned a hole in my pocket.
2000 Jeep Wrangler - Off-road low maintenance
I think I will always own a Jeep. I am up to 120k miles. I have only had to replace minor parts(start, water pump, battery). I don't go off road a lot, but I like being able to. I love taking the top and doors off all summer long. I have owed this Jeep since 20k miles. I want a new Jeep, but I don't want to trade this one in. The Wrangler is always in demand. I have been rear ended three times with no more damage than a few scratches. Drivers of Jeeps are a community.
Story
Summers with the top off.
Pros
Handles well in the ice and snow. It can maneuver most terrain in 4wd. Lower gear are great for steep inclines, and pulling other vehicles out of the ditch. Short wheelbase allows for tight turning. There is an endless supply of after market parts available for Jeeps. Great for camping. Front leg room. Easy to change oil without a lift. Under the hood is very spacious, easy to do maintenance. High resale value.
Cons
I have the 4 cylinder jeep. I would consider it under powered for highway driving. Low mpg for daily commuter. Soft top fabric has to be replaced every 7-10 years. Under powered to for towing a trailer. Small trunk.
