Jeep Wrangler Owner Ratings & Reviews

1995 Jeep Wrangler - Great for the outdoor adventurer.
It's one of the best vehicles I have ever driven. I'm an outdoorsy person, so I really needed a vehicle that could handle driving in snow, mud, gravel, and unpaved roads. And I also really wanted a manual transmission for extra control. Of course a Jeep is the best fit. Since Jeeps are extremely expensive and high demand where I live I bought a 1995. Let's just say Jeep Wranglers are indestructible. Like I've been always rough on equipment, but this Jeep has lasted me jumping off curbs, bumping into trees, and the occasional off-roading. My Jeep is lifted as well which makes it easy to repair but unfortunately louder than a jet taking off on the interstate. I use it mostly to commute back and forth to work. It's really slow, and my Jeep can only get up to 75 mph, but anything after 40 ... (more)
Story
I live in a place where there are occasional random thunderstorms in the summer. I didn't think to park at the parking garage that day, and it gets hot in the summer so I took the top off. Came back to Jeep -- temporarily an aquarium.
Pros
It is easy to repair, especially if it is lifted. So if you know what you are doing, you can easily fix your Jeep. It has some amazing off-roading capabilities as well as handling well on snow, loose gravel, and mud. A lot come in manual transmission so there's extra control. You can accessorize it with various tops (hard top, soft top, nets), so you can customize for whatever season. It has a dash full of gauges that tell you the engine temp, gas level, oil level, and battery so it helps a lot with diagnosing problems.
Cons
Really poor gas mileage, especially if lifted. Can be very expensive with constant upkeep and the initial price, since it is a popular vehicle also it likes to eat gas. If it's lifted and you are 5'2" like me, you have to give yourself a running jump to get in. Also extremely loud on the interstate. It sounds like you are about to break into a million pieces. Random electrical issues that clear up. Not a lot of space in a Wrangler. No airbags and high profile, so it could be potentially unsafe vehicle, invest in 5 point harness.
2004 Jeep Wrangler - It's been a good vehicle so far, with a few exceptions. However, I am not the original owner, so the problems it currently has could be due to the previous owner.
I bought the car from a man who said it belonged to his son while he was in college. He drove it back and forth from his campus in NC. The vehicle has been pretty good so far, with a few exceptions due to repairs that are needed.
Story
I don't have any yet. I have not owned the vehicle for very long. I suspect that I will have some fun stories later, but it's still winter time here, and I have only had the vehicle for less than two months. Driving my vehicle, with heat problems, in the middle of winter isn't exactly my idea of a fun story. I guess it would qualify to be a memorable story as I will never forget the winter I h... (more)
Pros
The vehicle looks nice. I do like the overall design, mostly due to the amount of storage space available. The vehicle has a large engine, a V8, but gets much better fuel mileage than I expected. My previous vehicle was a truck with the same size engine, and this vehicle gets a somewhat better fuel mileage than the last. The engine is very quiet, and the ride is quite smooth.
Cons
There is a bit of a coolant leak. I do not believe this is caused by the design of the vehicle, but more likely to be caused by the amount of miles on the vehicle. The overall miles is quite high. My biggest complain about this vehicle is the fact that the heat does not work well. One side of the vehicle will blow warm air while the other side is cold. After a few minutes, the warm air will go cold until I turn the heat off for a little while and turn it back on. This problem is caused by the blend doors near the heater core This is a design problem. A stronger material should be used in t... (more)
