2005 Jeep Wrangler Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2005 Jeep Wrangler - Good investment and durable vehicle
This Jeep is a comfortable and dependable vehicle. I like that the Jeep feels like a truck when sitting behind the wheel, but is short enough to make a U-turn on a single lane road. It has enough power to drive on the interstate, with four wheel drive it can take snowy, wet, or muddy roads with ease. The top and windows can be easily removed. I've accumulated 209,000 miles and still feel comfortable enough to drive cross country in it.
Story
Once during winter at dusk during black ice conditions, the vehicle spun around and turned over on its side in the ditch. No one was injured, the tow truck turned us back over, then we started it up and drove away!
Pros
This has been a very dependable vehicle. After 209,000 miles, it still runs like new. The four wheel drive ability allows off road use. The tops and windows can all be removed or lowered by one person. The back seat can be removed and replaced by one person. With the back seat out, there is plenty of cargo space. If the back seat is in, it can be folded up for extra space. The radio and speakers have quality sound and can be heard clearly even with top removed. The heat is exceptional in the winter, and can dry wet boots while driving. The air conditioning is also very good when n... (more)
Cons
Maintenance costs and security within the vehicle are the only cons. Maintenance can be expensive. Both regularly scheduled maintenance and regular wear has been more costly than other vehicles I have owned. Also, tire replacement has been more costly than other vehicles. Securing personal items in a safe place is almost impossible without additional after-market equipment.
2005 Jeep Wrangler - Offroad
I very much like the way the vehicle looks. I bought a red jeep and it gets a lot of looks when I am driving around. The 2005 model actually looks better than the current model. It is great off road and towing behind the RV. It is very easy to work on and the parts are readily available. There are many parts available for accessorizing and to improve the performance. It is easy to get in and out of, it doesn't sit low to the ground. It has been very reliable. I have been driving off road for more than six years and it hasn't let me down once. It has also gotten me in and out of some difficult driving situations. I am a rock hound and the vehicle is a necessity to get some of the places I want to go. Great in mud, sand, and snow. My wife really appreciates the excellent air ... (more)
Story
We were off road in Utah. There were giant ruts in road on the side of a mountain. The jeep was leaning downhill, and my wife was looking down the mountain. She was scared, but the jeep did just fine.
Pros
Great offroad
Cheap insurance
Easy to work on
Cons
Poor gas mileage
Loud cabin
Bad at highway speeds
