2000 Jeep Wrangler Owner Ratings & Reviews

2000 Jeep Wrangler - Jeep Wrangler does it all.
First off, the Wrangler is not a luxury vehicle. If a person buys it expecting a quiet, smooth ride, with good fuel efficiency, they will be disappointed. That being said, I was not expecting any of these things when I purchased the Wrangler. I wanted a tough, reliable vehicle that would take me from point A to point B no matter what the weather or conditions. The 4 liter inline V6 engine provides plenty of power on the low end for driving through rough or steep terrain. The high end does lack some power, but this vehicle isn't really made for driving down an interstate at 70 MPH. In fact, doing that feels a bit dangerous, but if your preference is to stay off of the beaten path, then it's perfect. The body has a very solid feel to it. The steel is rigid and tough, not thin and flexibl... (more)
Story
Several years back, we got caught in an ice storm while away form home. We were able to drive on ice and snow covered roads in order to get home. No other cars were around and trees had collapsed on the roadway from the weight of the ice, but we were able to drive around and over them and made it home on a night when everyone else was stuck were they were.
Pros
Pros: Removable carpeting and drain plugs in the floor, for those times when you get caught out in the rain without a top or get in water that is a little too deep. Multiple top options, including hard top, soft top, and what is known as bikini tops. The removable back seat is good for when you need extra cargo space. Modular style design allows for easily replacing parts, such as doors, mirrors, seats, etc. No electronics in those items also cut down on complexity and problems. Ability to go places most vehicles cannot. The engine has been very reliable and has handled city driving, off r... (more)
Cons
The ride is somewhat rough. It can also be noisy, depending on the top you have installed. Fuel efficiency is not great. There is a locking truck area, but it is small and wouldn't take too much work to break into. The plastic fender flares faded within a few years, but there were plenty of after-market flares to choose from and the ones I picked have stood the test of time. Many possible, easy upgrade and customization options are available.
2000 Jeep Wrangler - Very awesome and fun to drive.
This is a great vehicle to drive everyday or just to have fun with. The 4 x 4 is excellent to have when you live in states that receive a lot of snow or has issues with mud. All Jeeps hold their value, especially the Wrangler, which makes them a very popular vehicle. I've owned mine for a little over a year, and switching from a Ford Mustang (which I loved my Mustang too) to the Jeep Wrangler was wonderful. I could see over smaller cars. I am able to fit my Wrangler into smaller parking spaces and still have room to spare. With the small wheel base, I am able to maneuver the bumps and pot holes which we have a lot of here in Michigan. My son owns a 2015 Wrangler and has been turning it into a toy. He loves his just like I love mine. The older Jeeps are easy to work on when you ha... (more)
Story
Going to a Taylor Swift concert with the top down in the cold, so everyone could hear our stereo blaring her songs.
Pros
The Jeep Wrangle can do things that your normal car can't do. You could never jump a sand dune with a Mazda: it would never make it. You are able to go through deeper water without getting water in it because the Jeeps sit taller than the average vehicle. Also the Wrangle can become a convertible in just a few moments, and you have the option of having a hard top or a soft. They are also awesome looking vehicle that you can modify (upgrade) with all different gadgets such as lifting the body and putting larger tires on it, or putting large lights on it for night time playing.
Cons
The 6-cylinder Wranglers are a little gas hungry and can get expensive when using it for long-distance rides. I don't like (on mine) that I have to lift my leg so high to get my leg over the high sides. Other then that, I can't complain about my Wrangler.
