1995 Jeep Wrangler Owner Ratings & Reviews

1995 Jeep Wrangler - Anywhere in a Jeep.
My Jeep is awesome! It is full-time 4x4, so I can go just about anywhere in it with no problems. It has just enough of a lift in the suspension for clearing boulders without having to add steps to get in. You can work under the vehicle by sitting on your knees, and there is lots of room in the engine compartment too. Both of these things make it a breeze to work on or repair.
There are many different aftermarket shops available, so customizing a Jeep is easy as ordering the parts. You can get a hard top and a soft top or go topless -- it all depends on you.
I have owned this vehicle for many years now and must say the workmanship is fantastic. I have made few "repairs" over the years; most work has been just to customize it the way I want.
Story
When I first upgraded to a posi-traction rear end in my Jeep, I found myself peeling off around corners constantly. My girlfriend refused to ride with me for the first few weeks until my cornering didn't scare her senseless anymore.
Pros
Being 6' 5", it is difficult at best to find a vehicle nowadays that I can drive comfortably. This is a joy to drive. Gas mileage is really good since it has a manual transmission. I can drive all week for less than $40. It handles really well, so I can zip around corners and over speed bumps like nothing. My Jeep has a back seat, so my kids can come 4x4ing with us. The doors are removable for easy access at the lake or river. Because it is a 4x4, I can get to places other people can't, so we can avoid crowded areas on holidays. The back seat is easily removable also for the days when we t... (more)
Cons
The speed tops out at about 50-55 mph, so highway driving is right lane only. There is no power reserve in these cars -- no passing gear. Since the doors are removable, you have the risk of someone deciding they need your parts more than you do. In the summer I leave the soft top on and the doors without windows on them. One year I went out to a parking lot to find someone had stolen my doors! With a soft top you also have to deal with the noise caused by driving at normal speeds. The leather slaps against the roof frame bars and can be very noisy. Also, if you drive around in an open vehi... (more)
1995 Jeep Wrangler - Great versatile truck
This is the greatest truck ever made. This truck is very versatile and great looking also. It's very roomy with the two front bucket seats and generous room in the back seat, which is removable in less than a minute. This gives a huge space in the back, and you could sleep in it if you had to. The steering is tight, so you don't have that right to left action to compensate. The Wrangler has four-wheel drive "on the fly," meaning you don't have to go out in the rain to turn the lugs on the wheels. As long as you are going under 50 MPH, just pull down the lever located to the left of the drive selector, and it goes from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive instantly. The 2.5L engine gives powerful pulling power also. I've pulled people out of the sand at the beach with little effort. It h... (more)
Story
I was at the beach and a guy got his truck stuck in the sand. I walked over and said, "Need some help?" He said, "No, I'm calling a tow truck." I told him I could get him out in about a minute or two (he didn't know I had a Jeep). I got my tow rope out, hooked him up and pulled him right out. He offered me $20, but I refused it. He was ecstatic!
Pros
Four-wheel drive on the fly. Cold A/C. Towing ability. Tight steering. Good gas mileage for its class. Attractive.
Cons
I will bounce you around more than a car or conventional truck, but it's a Jeep, and I find it fun to drive.
