2016 Jeep Renegade -
I really enjoy my 2016 Jeep Renegade. I especially love the color of it, Omaha Orange. This bright and unique color allows me to spot it easily in the parking lot when coming out of a store. It also has fairly efficient gas mileage for an SUV. I am consistently able to get about 25 MPG in my car. The car also has a lot of cute touches to it, which make it very unique that I personally enjoy. For example, on the bottom left hand corner of the windshield, there is a little silhouette of a Jeep driving across some rocky terrain. Also, on the bottom right hand corner of the rear windshield, there is a silhouette of a man hiking up a mountain. On the inside of the gas cap there is also a little cartoon of a spider saying "Ciao!" since the design of the gas cap does not allow for spiders to ... (more)

There is also a spot around the push button start that says "on to new adventures!" All these little touches make me feel like Jeep took some extra time in designing these vehicles specifically, and that makes me even more proud to own one myself. The only real cons that I have thus far discovered with this car are mediocre acceleration and some minor mechanical issues that are probably specific to my particular car. I also appreciate the fact that the Renegade is not the most popular car on the market at the moment, which makes my car feel more unique and special.
The first time it snowed in the area after I had purchased the vehicle, we took my car out on the snowy streets and activated the four-wheel drive. This is the first four-wheel drive vehicle I have ever owned, so to be able to drive around the snow covered streets without any concern for losing control of the vehicle was quite freeing and fun.

Some of my favorite features of the car included the proximity unlocking feature. As long as I had the key somewhere on my person, all I had to do was place my hand on the door handle and the car would unlock. Also, there was a small button on the outside of the driver side door handle that you could press when leaving the vehicle that would lock the vehicle behind you. Also, the car features push button start so you do not have to actually put a key into an ignition slot in order to start the vehicle. This allowed me to not have to constantly keep track of where my car keys were at any given moment. As long as they were somewhere in my purse, I knew I could unlock, start, and re-lock my car. The car also has remote start technology which allows me to start the vehicle on cold mornings from the comfort of my home and then the car is already warmed up for me when I enter it. The car also features fully electric seat adjustment controls for the drivers seat. This allows me to make lots of seating adjustments while I am driving. My car also features a touchscreen that connects to a back up camera at the rear of the vehicle. This allows me to ensure that I am not about to hit something when the car is in reverse. The car radio is also compatible with Sirius Satellite radio which allows me to listen to all kinds of music stations while driving.
There is a slight whistle by the driver side window where it seems as though the rubber edging along the seam of the window did not create a perfect seal. Also, the acceleration in the car leaves a lot to be desired. It takes a great deal of force applied to the gas pedal in order to accelerate quickly when merging on to a highway. Also, I am not positive, but I believe that the windshield sits at a rather sharp angle upward from the actual hood of the car. Also, I am not positive, but I believe that the windshield sits at a rather sharp angle upward from the actual hood of the car. During my first few months of ownership, I suffered from three small cracks to my windshield from small rocks hitting it, and I believe this is due to the upward angle of the windshield. I also found it a little odd when I first bought the vehicle that there is no CD player in it. It might just be a case of technology moving away from CD players, but in order to listen to music that you supply yourself, it needs to be either through Bluetooth or through some other device that connects to the car via USB. The only other possible con I can think of for this vehicle is that it could have slightly better gas mileage. However, I consistently achieve ~25 MPG which is fairly decent for a sport utility vehicle, it just doesn't compare to the 40+MPG that is achieved these days by smaller and hybrid vehicles.
2017 Jeep Renegade - Reliable vehicle
My 2017 Jeep Renegade is my first newer vehicle. Every vehicle I have owned before this has been at least eight years old at time of purchase. My jeep was only a year. That being said, I had very high expectations about this vehicle. Overall, I am very satisfied. It has a nice chic look to it on the outside. It is smaller than most Jeeps, but it suits me just fine. I like the racks on top of the vehicle. We travel a lot, and we have a baby, so we have to pack a lot. There is not much room for cargo on the inside of the Jeep so we purchased a luggage bag to strap to the top of the vehicle. When driving so much its nice to have a cruise control that comes with the Jeep. Also, it is Bluetooth capable so my phone automatically syncs to the Jeep when I get it. With that I can answer the phone and play music in the car, and all the controls are located on the steering wheel so I do not have to take my hands off of the wheel to work those features. When we travel we sometimes drive 17+ hours to get to our destination, and this Jeep gets great gas mileage. I was pleasantly surprised by the gas mileage that it gets. It drives very well in snow and icy weather. It has multiple options for the four-wheel drive depending on what you are driving on i.e. snow, ice, sand, rocks. I feel very safe when driving this vehicle with my baby in there. Overall, I am very satisfied with this Jeep, and I would recommend it to someone who is in the market for a new vehicle.
We were trying to find a place to go swimming and were using our GPS. Where we live apparently the GPS does not know where some roads are. We were trying to find a place to go swimming and were using our GPS. Where we live apparently the GPS does not know where some roads are. Our directions lead us down many dead end trails, and some where even driveways that it told us to turn down on. One of the directions it told us to take ended up being a two rut trail on some ones property. We drove past this persons house and started to panic. We knew we needed to get off of this persons land before they came out and yelled at us. Luckily, this trail ran parallel to a major road with a small cut across trail to get to the other road. This little trail was maybe 100 ft., but it was steep hills both going up and going down. I would have been nervous to take a ORV on this little trail. My husband was driving and he has more experience off-roading in a vehicle that I do, so he took the small cut across to get to the highway. I sat in the passenger seat quietly freaking out while he drove, pretty impressively I may add, to the highway. I definitely thought that the Jeep was going to tip over onto its side because one of the hills was quite steep. Although this was not what we had intended to do that day, it ended up being a story and proving that getting a Jeep was a good idea.
Back-up camera- this camera has very clear resolution and has guidelines that show where you are going to and how close you are getting to something. This is great for someone like me with bad depth perception. Heated seats and steering wheel. This feature is amazing in the winter. Our Jeep has leather seats, and we live somewhere that gets crazy cold in the winter (like -20 or lower), and when I remote start the Jeep, the seat heater and steering wheel heaters automatically come one. The remote start is a great feature on its own, but adding the heaters are great. It's so nice not getting... (more)

The remote start is a great feature on its own, but adding the heaters are great. It's so nice not getting into a cold vehicle on ice cold seats and steering wheel. Bluetooth- This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has Bluetooth. It's great that I can sync my phone to make calls and play music. It also reads my text messages, and I can send one back my saying what I want to send all with out taking my eyes off of the road. Along with the Bluetooth, having controls on the steering wheel is a great feature, so I do not have to take me eyes off of the road to make and receive calls or change the music. The seats in the back fold flat. There is not a lot of cargo space in this Jeep so the fact that the seats in the back fold all the way flat is nice so you can fit more stuff in the back when needed.
Pretty small. We bought this Jeep from a dealership a few hours away, so everything was done online. I did not realize just how small the interior of this vehicle was. It is not car seat friendly. We have went from a infant car seat to a convertible car seat, and while they are rear facing, they do not leave much room for the seat in front of them. We have to put the car seat behind the passenger seat and the passenger seat is so close to the dash that it is unconformable for people to sit. When we travel we have to use a cargo bag that we purchased and strap it to the luggage racks on top of the Jeep. While this is not that big of a deal it is kind of an annoyance. Remote start when cold- Our Jeep does not have a block heater. If you live somewhere cold I highly suggest getting a block heater. There is a feature on this vehicle that does not allow it to start when the outside temperature is less than -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Unfortunately we live somewhere that gets that cold often in the winter, so we will need to purchase and install a block heater. This feature has left me stranded and I had to miss work multiple times.
2015 Jeep Renegade - Modern Jeep provides plenty of space and gas mileage.
This is one of the better Jeeps that I have owned, and I am on my fourth Jeep. One of the things I really like about this Jeep is the body style. It's futuristic looking and has a lot of smooth curves that make it stand out against other cars. The engine is four-cylinder, so if you're used to a V6 or V8, it does take a little time to get use to, but the slight loss of power is a great trade off for the amazing gas mileage that you get with this car. Like all Jeeps, it rides a little bumpy, but it's far less bumpier than a Wrangler.

I took this car to Colorado with me and my two dogs. We slept in it along the way and then went hiking at Garden of the Gods. We had a blast with the girls in the backseat sticking their heads out the windows and taking pictures along the way.

The Renegade is super comfortable. It easily sits five people or two humans and two dogs. The back seat can be thrown down (like all Jeeps) to give you more cargo space. I love having cargo space underneath the back floorboard. It's nice to hide stuff if needed. I have two dogs, and they can easily fit in the back seat, or if I want to give them more room, I put the back seat down, toss their beds in the back and they can stretch out. There's plenty of little nooks to tie off their harnesses too so they stay safe and secured while I drive. The gas mileage is amazing for a Jeep. I only have... (more)

I only have to fill up about once every two weeks for my city driving back and forth two work. It's a 12-gallon tank, so that ends up being about $22 bucks two times a month.
The Jeep costs less than other models, and that's reflected in the plastic used on the panels and trim. I've had to take it back to the dealer twice in the two years I've owned it in order to get trim replaced that either broke or came unhinged. However, it was covered under warranty, so it didn't cost me anything. Because it does have a four-cylinder engine, you don't have the get up and go that you're used to with a V6 or a V8 so take that into account when trying to gun it on an on-ramp.
