2011 Jeep Patriot - The Jeep Patriot--for work and play
I purchased this vehicle when it was two years old at a time when I needed a roomier vehicle to accommodate my disabled husband. The front seat has plenty of legroom, and the back folds down to hold several bags of groceries or livestock feed. It can tow a light trailer, and the body has survived three episodes of 'deer damage' with only minimal repairs needed.
Story
I live in a rural area where there are more wild animals than people. This Jeep has been in three collisions with deer seemingly intent on destroying it, but the score stands at Deer-0, Jeep-3.
Pros
The durability of the body, the towing capacity and the interior legroom are my favorite features of the 2011 Jeep Patriot.
Cons
It's hard to do basic maintenance on the Jeep Patriot at home, and the fact that there isn't a maintenance manual available to the public doesn't help. The sound system is less than spectacular in the model I own. And last but not least, my daughter, who's 5'3, has a hard time seeing over the dash without a booster cushion.
2014 Jeep Patriot -
The car had performed exceptionally since I bought it two years ago. It is a 2014 Jeep Patriot. When I drove it off the lot there were eight miles showing on the odometer. I have performed routine maintenance such as oil changes.
Story
I have on several occasions used the Jeep to transport goats from my home to buyers in distant locations.
Pros
This is the second Jeep model that I have purchased. The tight steering makes for easy handling in small spaces. The gas mileage for this model better than advertised. The second row seating is comfortable enough for three teen-age girls to ride in and not aggravate one another. The SRS airbags located on the sides of the vehicle give a reassurance of safety. The spare tire is mounted underneath an area in the cargo space instead of on the outside of the vehicle.
Cons
The side view mirrors take a bit of getting used to as they are often blocking a straight view from the drivers seat. There is an absence of extra cup holders for the front seat passengers.
