It's a great car, equally capable on road or off. The gas mileage is really good for a Jeep, which was a huge selling point for me. The interior may be a little plain, but that makes it easy to clean and less prone to looking worn.
Story
We've taken my Patriot to Great Sand Dunes National Park on numerous occasions. The best parts of the park can only be accessed by 4wd. We've been able to drive into back areas of the park where most people can't go to have some very secluded picnics free of other people.
Pros
This Jeep preforms well off road, despite it's lower ground clearance. Even though mine isn't "trail rated" it's still more than capable. The light for the cargo area of the car pops out with a quick push to use as a flashlight! The SUV itself is big enough for most of your day to day hauling, including 4 dogs! The 4WD is great for the snow and ice. The heated seats and remote start are very welcome on cold winter mornings. Cons
This Jeep could have higher ground clearance, larger rims and a wider tire base to increase its off road capabilities. Compared to other Jeeps this is probably the least capable, though still very willing and able. The cargo area could also be longer since it doesn't seem to hold as much stuff as other Jeeps. Though not that old a car the paint is already chipping around the doors. The interior might seem a little cheap to most people, too.

This car is both nice enough to cruise around town yet rugged enough to go up and down in the mountains in CO several times a day for a daily commute. I can fit all my kiddos and a few dogs. It's easy to clean and pretty easy on the gas, as long as the oil is regularly changed and maintained. It's easy to service and doesn't break down easily. It's sporty and very fun to drive. I just wish the radio was a bit nicer in my model. It's also better for smaller people to drive. I'm on the shorter end, and I can see around just fine.
Story
Driving up and down the mountain in Manitou, CO, several times a day with my kiddos and music going full blast. This car can take a beating without looking too rugged.
Pros
Very spacious, accommodating for hauling medium to large items, easy to clean, and fun to drive.
Cons
The engine doesn't have the greatest acceleration. I would prefer a V-6 to my little I-4 gerbil-powered engine.
