The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a terrific car. It is perfectly reliable and can be adapted to many different situations. It is an all-around wonderful car, great for anybody and essentially everybody. It is also universal in that it can be driven by anybody, male or female, young or old, those with children and those without.
Story
I often travel a lot and go on plenty of road trips. During these trips, I often find it more convenient to simply pull over on the side of the road at a truck stop or a camping ground and take a nap instead of checking into a hotel. It saves me a lot of money and time. I have spent many nights sleeping in my car. It has been wonderful because the car is large enough and comfortable enough to ... (more)
Pros
The pros of the Jeep Grand Cherokee include how versatile the car is. The car is comfortable enough for daily driving. It is also powerful enough to go off-roading. Not only that, the car is large enough to go camping in also. Lastly, the car comes equipped with all the extra good-to-have features including tinted windows, heated side mirrors, and collapsible back seats.
Cons
The negatives about the car include the leather car seats were easily torn from daily wear and tear. Once torn, the leather car seats simply kept tearing, so the tears get larger and larger making them very difficult to repair at this point. Parts for the car are also harder and more expensive to find as it is not as common of a car than other brands.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Solid machine underneath with low-quality face.

As a Jeep from older years, it's a solid performer with straight axles and amazing torque as you'd expect. Due to its age, there are a few mechanical issues that come up, but because it's a Jeep, they're all reliably easy to fix yourself with a little know how. Despite being a great machine, these issues can be common and are usually related to electrical components. The quality control outside of the chassis and engine isn't always the best, but its engineering and design as a classic SUV has had a lasting impact on the market.
Story
My dad happened to be behind the wheel when we took it camping a long time ago in the auburn recreational area. When he decided to park, he wanted to test out just how much torque the engine had. Right in front of the parking spot there was this steep incline. To my moms very vocal dismay, my dad drove the Jeep straight up this steep hill to all of our surprise.
Pros
This machine will perform great off-road. Straight axles and a reliable straight six engine with lots of torque can easily take you anywhere. The cabin has lots of room. The seats are comfortable, and the wide picturesque view from the windows makes it great for those trips you'll go on. This Jeep feels like a solid truck, along with being a vehicle you'll enjoy spending lots of time in.
Cons
The quality control regarding the electrical components has not stood up to age very well. Sometimes it won't register the door as being closed and will beep. The display interface regarding engine issues (low coolant and such) does not read accurately anymore, and it does have issues starting occasionally. Despite all of that, those issues are relatively straightforward to resolve and advanced electronics from those years can't be expected to perform well after all of these years. Other issues are trade offs you would expect from SUVs, such as poor fuel economy. But that trade off makes f... (more)
