2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee - It's an excellent and reliable car.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most reliable car I have ever owned. Jeep tends to get a bad rap when it goes to things going wrong with their cars, but I'm convinced those are just people who abuse the car. I purchased the car used (three years old), and I have had zero major problems with the vehicle since then. It drives very smooth, and the interior is well-designed and appealing.
Story
I get to take it to the beach where we're allowed to drive on the sand. It's a great size for getting our group and our things out onto the beach for a good time.
Pros
The inside of the car feels like everything is where it's meant to be. Jeep did very well in making the space both comfortable and useful. Everything in the car is appropriate and useful.
Cons
I don't have many negative things to say about the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but if I had to list one thing, I wish I didn't have to deal with the "phantom window" issue that a lot of Jeeps have where every time you roll the window up, the car rolls it back down for no reason.
2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee -
I really liked the car, overall. It was an old car when I got it, so I was a little afraid, but it lasted until I ended up moving cross country. I decided it wasn't worth the trip, and I still managed to sell it at almost 260k miles, so it would get more use. It was sturdy and reliable and got me where I needed to go, which were my primary concerns.
Story
I often used it going to various parks and activities. The spacious back of the car was nice.
Pros
It was very easy to work on/maintain. As it was already a decade old when I started using it, it needed work on it somewhat regularly, but it wasn't difficult to actually get at any of the parts, do oil changes, etc. The parts were also usually very easy to find.
Cons
The fuel economy wasn't amazing. If you didn't want to work on the car, it would be a nightmare in that it required a lot of work - albeit the work was usually small and easy.
