Jeep Compass Owner Ratings & Reviews

2007 Jeep Compass - Overall, a good vehicle for the price.
I enjoy most things about my Jeep Compass. You really have to be a "Jeeper" to appreciate how the ride and style of a Jeep is. With the compass being a 2.4L, it is a bit sluggish on hills but the off-road capabilities are what set this apart from your standard SUV. It's a no-frills interior, but it gets the job done, and I appreciate how they don't steer away from the rugged Jeep brand as the years go on. It does however include all the new aux ports in most standard vehicles. It even includes a plug you can use for blowing up an air mattress with a compressor for those camping weekends.
Story
I mostly used my vehicle to go back and forth to work, but on multiple occasions, I would take it camping up to Old Forge. Always a nice ride up there and an even better stay at the campground.
Pros
I would say the main reasons I love my Jeep is affordability, American-made, style, and 4x4 off road and rough-terrain capability. I was able to buy my Compass and pay it off in five years with a payment of only $285 a month. The payments work for me, and that is very important. When I've had to do repairs, it's always very affordable in comparison to a VW Jetta I previously owned that died because of a computer issue. Lastly, hands down, the best feature is how it handles in upstate NY snow. I never am worried or nervous with the 4x4 lock on.
Cons
I would have to say the negatives with the Jeep Compass would be the factory warranty. Chrysler's warranty is a shorter-term, bumper-to-bumper, three years or thirty-six thousand miles. With me buying the car, used of course, it was beyond that mileage, so I had to purchase an extended warranty. I would also note that the Jeep is not a smooth ride. Now that wouldn't bother me if I didn't bring my grandmother to bingo from time to time. It does have a tendency to lag from a stopped position, and when riding over bumps, you better hold on! But then again...it's a Jeep!
2007 Jeep Compass - Absolutely love it
Love my 2007 Jeep Compass! Originally was looking to purchase a cross-over type vehicle and came across this. The price was right, and the looks were good. Only downfalls I have found thus far is that the rear hatch handle exterior is only plastic and is now broken, so every time I open my hatch, I have to readjust the exterior cover, so it's not just hanging there. Also, the step side pieces are only plastic, and the bolts that hold them on have since fallen off somewhere while driving down the road, so I can't even put them back on. On the plus side, the gas mileage is awesome, smooth ride with plenty of family/grocery room. I have had the advantage of needing to use the 4x4, and that is always a relief to have as well. The 4x4 is very easy to turn on with just the lift of this littl... (more)
Story
My family has weekly cookouts, and the first summer we had my Jeep Compass, this was the only vehicle we had. I would go to my youngest brother, and for $10, he would fill the hatch of the Jeep with firewood that he had gotten out of the woods for our fires. While I was picking up wood from him, he loved to have me put it in the 4x4, and we would go play in the woods and in the mud with it. No... (more)
Pros
Great gas mileage and space for the family and the groceries.
Cons
Exterior plastic parts that broke easily.
