Have owned it for five years putting 40,000 miles on the odometer. Having owned Jeeps previously and all have been reliable and easy to repair and maintain. Entry and exit of vehicle is somewhat restricted due to vehicle size. Comfort of ride is good for such a small vehicle while handling characteristics should be approached with caution. Visibility while driving is excellent. Quality of vehicle is mediocre with excellent design and workmanship but poor material quality that is used offsets that effort. Power is more than sufficient with the standard six cylinder engine. Gas mileage is poor for it size and performance. This is a specific use vehicle of a small niche of the driving population. It falls within a small subgroup of SUV type vehicle. It is highly desired within that group ... (more)
Story
Driving mountain trails and scaring my passenger due to his inexperience in off highway situations. He had no idea the capabilities of a CJ Jeep in mud and snow.
Pros
Very reliable and easy to maintain. Extremely easy to drive around town. Small size makes parking a simple task.
Cons
Biggest negative is poor fuel economy. In part due to its old technology and part due to design. Stability at highway speeds is precarious above 65 mph.

My Jeep CJ7 is a great vehicle. So fun and versatile. Mine had a Rag Top so you could go convertible when the weather was good. In the summer I used the Bimini top quite a bit. Doors come off as well. If you hunt or fish or just like to go off road to places without worrying about getting stuck then nothing is better than a CJ7. Snow, mud, steep inclines it just keeps on going.
Story
No matter if there was no parking spaces. I could usually make my own by driving in places where other cars could not go.
Pros
The heater works very nicely, really pumps out the hot air. Gas mileage is pretty good. Very durable car that can take a pounding! Repairing this vehicle is relatively inexpensive. Whether you are female or male, the opposite sex seems to be attracted to this car. CJ7 has a lot of torque which is good for towing boats, trailers, etc. etc.
Cons
Difficult to secure any valuables or good car stereo as this car has no locks. Rustic car, loud flapping of the rag top and doors. Not that fast of good on the interstate. Hard to listen to music. No air conditioning. Be careful on wet roads, skidding and even rolling over is a risk you take.

This vehicle has been great to me. I've had it for over twelve years and have never had a serious problem with it. There I no comparison in quality of build, compared to the newer jeeps (1990' and newer)
Story
People always call me when they are stuck to come pull them out. It's just nice to take the top off and go for a drive on a really hot day. I have climbed mountain with it and been buried in a mud hole. It I a very unique vehicle and a lot of fun.
Pros
The frame is solid because it I not made of recycled steel like modern day jeeps. Carbureted motor is easier to work on then fuel injected motors. Very simple design, it is made to be easy to take apart and fix in the field. Great vehicle for winter driving because it rarely gets stuck. Parts are relatively inexpensive for the cj-7.
Cons
There is no air conditioner but the top does come off. The heat barley works, I would ay that I my biggest pet peeve but I believe that is still an issue today with all wrangler style jeeps. I go through a lot of U-Joints compared to a regular vehicle. The vehicle I very top heavy, it has a rather short wheelbase compared to most vehicle and will easily tip over if going around a corner at a high rate of speed
