1990 Jeep Cherokee - Great all around safe vehicle
I have had my 1990 Jeep Cherokee for 9 years now. I got it in the winter time because I needed a vehicle with four wheel drive. This Jeep does excellently on winter roads. Of course, it drives well in the summer as well. There are very few things that I dislike about this vehicle and it is one of my favorites that I've ever driven. There are a few cosmetic defects, but I think that's to be expected after 20 years. Overall, this is a great vehicle that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a vehicle that is like a car, but can also tow and go almost anywhere.
Story
A friend of mine laid on top of the Jeep which caused the roof to dent in a little. One day while driving down the freeway, the dent popped back out. It was very frightening at the time, but once I figured out what it was it was funny.
Pros
The 4X4 works excellently. It always has enough get up and go to do the job. I can haul almost anything between the room inside the vehicle, the cargo rack on top, and the hitch. It always starts right up. I always feel safe in it, it is not one of those SUVs that makes you feel as if you are going to tip over on turns. I have never had problems with having to do any major mechanical work on it. Getting stuck is never a problem and I can go on all kinds of roads that my little car wont go on.
Cons
The field of vision is a little obscured by the back side of the vehicle. It can be difficult to see and decide if there is enough room to change lanes. Several little things are falling apart due to the age of the vehicle. There are some problems with the driver's door not shutting properly, and a lot of the trim has fallen off.
